Having a stat for ‘goalkeeper saves’ rather than shots on target isn’t a great idea visually is it.

Championship 2024/2025 Season Thread

You should probably enjoy your celebratory mood elsewhere @Super_horns - won’t fit in well around here this evening 😂 Well done on beating the sheep 🐑 -
Fulham are an average Premier League side - which is a huge level above where we are at this moment in time. Cooper’s not stupid, he’s been in the game long enough to know where our problems lie - the problem for him, they lie across quite a number of areas. Be it having a defender that has good quality but also a horrible lack of pace, a left back that is questionable at this standard, a weakish looking midfield, an aging main striker and questions marks over what your creative outlet is - these are difficult problems to solve all in one go. If I’m Cooper, I’d have been looking at the first set of games up to the international break as a “get what you can out of them” with the ultimate focus of not getting pummelled. That then allows for a bit of regrouping - with all the players that have come in across the window - and hopefully getting to a point where we have less problems within the squad to deal with.

1-2 Fulham, A Post Match Thread

The annoying thing has to be both goals coming from transitions whilst we were high up the pitch. Need to work on our transition play too - with both forwards dropping to form the block, we don’t have any immediate threat going the other way and that leads to us getting bogged down in possession when we do win it back. Winks seemed starved of the ball in good areas today too… my solution would have been to push him forward and have Ndidi and Skipp shield the back four. One other obvious thing - as good as Jannik is as a defender, I think we’re compensating for his horrific lack of pace too much. It’s a factor that will restrict our willingness bring the back line up and to press high. -
Oh… it abruptly stopped - I think I’m disappointed, even if it was horrific

Has anyone else’s stream started playing random foreign techno in the background with the lyrics mainly featuring “bang, bang, bangey bang?”
-
From his Palace clips - he does seem to come up with ‘big moment’ goals.
-
I think we could do with pushing Winks into a 10 here so he can get on the ball in more threatening areas. Too much of his possession has been in passive areas of the pitch. I’d be tempted to bring Facundo off for Skipp, slot him back into the defensive screen and push Winks forward.

Alright, who praised Faes in the comments at halftime?!? Way to jinx a classic Faes moment!
-
It will be us at some point this season!
-
Trust me, you don’t, it was very annoying.
-
Done alright there - away from home against an organised opposition who can cut you open if you give them too much space as we saw with their goal. It’s noticeable Winks and Ndidi have swapped sides compared to Spurs - I think that’s in recognition of Traore being on Fulham’s right. I think Cooper’s also conscious of Jan’s lack of pace - and may indicate why he’s swapped him and Faes over (compared to last season) and is playing Justin to just sit and tuck. It’ll be interesting to see what he does in way of changes through the second-half.
-
Cooper’s trying to keep the game tight - which is exactly the right thing to do. Look how Fulham attacked when we did get caught up field - the idea we go with two out and out wingers from the start, away from home is fanciful.
-
That should be allowed - or it’s a penalty (keeper push on Vardy)
-
Thing is, I can see what we’re trying to do - and we have some nice combination play at times. Was just about to say - we looking a threat at set pieces too - shame it’s not going to count!
-
I also think Fulham have been moving the ball better than Spurs did - much more purpose to their play. Shame they scored when they did because we had started growing into the game at that point.
-
Refresh and you should get the correct stream… but it will have some random Japanese women talking over the top of it.
-
Could that weird feeling be deja vu?
-
Brighton winning the league then!
-
-
That chance had nothing to do with a high line - it was a counter that started from deep in United’s half 🤷🏻♂️
-
I can only assume they didn’t get in done in time - maybe they had trouble with their fax machine?
-
Of course you’d prefer Mavadidi to start - every fan does because you all have an ingrained bias from watching him play all last season. But if you looked closely at some of BDCR’s play against Spurs (especially second half) he was linking up well with Facundo, Vardy and Kristiansen - with our goal and game winning chance just after that coming from play involving his out to in positioning and creating a box 4 midfield / vacant left channel.
-
Defending awful on both goals. United allow Brighton easy possession around their box with absolutely no pressure at all. Then Brighton return the favour by playing a high line with no press. Crazy lack of football intelligence shown by both sets of players.
