  1. I’ve seen a single tweet suggesting an ankle injury and could be out past the start of the season. No idea how true, but unless it’s Ward’s mum, why would lie about that?
  2. I was going to ask the same. Anyone got the Barwell game team?
  3. Ward, Thomas & Daka all starting - that’s one way to piss off the fan base!
  4. The colours are a combination of previous away kits of ours.
  5. Sad thing is… I had to check it wasn’t real before laughing at this post 😂
  6. I am amazed they didn’t consider doing the whole pre-season as a package. That would require additional thought and planning… so maybe I’m not surprised.
  7. I also urge all fans traveling to Shrewbury to take some Fishcakes to chuck on the pitch on the 10th minute!
  8. This is where all fans have to make a stand here. No-one, and I mean absolutely no-one, should be paying the club £10 to watch a stream of a friendly. So don’t. This is something that can be missed as a fan - do something else with your evening.
  9. I think she will gain the support she needs - whether that’s through a coronation or a largely contrived ‘contest’ - and that the Dem’s will rally round afterwards because ultimately it’s a party machine who’s focus is on winning elections. On the ‘rude and obnoxious’ thing - I’ve hear Twitter murmurs of that - but is that something the Republican’s can use to any effect given who their candidate is? On the ‘betrayal’ aspect - I see this as something that will be quickly forgotten. The marked decline in Biden was clear to see and I think a lot of people could relate the situation to an elderly relative and accept - he couldn’t continue.
  10. Look at the Brexit vote - they had the personalities, hence they won from a weaker position (not status quo, not government backed etc). Policy helps - but ultimately it’s the person behind the policy that sells it to voters.
  11. Politics has always been as much about personality as it has been policies - it’s just how we work as humans. Policies are merely the excuses we use to justifying liking a politician, when the truth is our decision has been made within seconds of laying site on them.
  12. Thanks @MPH How do you think Harris will stand with women voters? I feel they’re voters more susceptible to changing their votes - and can be quite catty towards female politicians, almost to the point they show a preference for a man to be in charge. (huge sweeping generalisation I know, but necessary in this context). And equally - would black men vote for a black woman? Doe s she have the type of pull Obama did (probably an unfair comparison, Obama was an excellent politician). Obviously she’ll be popular on the left… but the Dem’s should have that vote covered anyway. I can’t help thinking many within the Dem’s might have preferred having someone else right now… but that they don’t really have someone else to choose.
  13. For those with better reference points - I knew Harris was unpopular, but I don’t really know why or the levels. Is she Hillary level unpopular? And how much direct exposure has she been getting? Is there any prospect that if she’s given front and centre she can turn opinion?
  14. I did see something reported to be his reaction… since found it confirmed as seen below 👇 The man’s pure class isn’t he 😂
  15. Is anyone on Truth Social who can tell me how ol’ Donald has taken the news? I imagine he’s gone with a Presidential approach and wished Biden well and offered him a game of golf sometime?
  16. Biden’s backed Kamala - no surprise really, it’d be weird if you didn’t go with your VP in this situation. Will be interesting to see how things play out. Another intriguing thing - Trump is only 3 years younger than Biden.
  17. I think the Dem’s will go for an open contest. I saw clips of Pete Buttigieg on Bill Maher’s show last night and think he’d be an excellent candidate to stand against Trump - so measured and well spoken. However - are American’s ready for a first (openly*) Gay President? *of course we all know Lincoln liked a bit of bum fun 😂
  18. Ladies & Gentleman… they got him!
  19. Nah come on, he’s nailed on to get the United job.
  20. Stolz would be serviceable I reckon - especially if he’s allowed to hit long more (it seemed like he felt obliged to play short even in situations it wasn’t wise last season). Put it this way - if not this season, he’ll be firmly asking the question over the number 1 spot next year. Another factor to keep in mind - as good as Mads was last year, he’s got to show it again at a higher level… and while he seems more than capable of growing and excelling this season, there’s always a possibility he doesn’t because, you know, form can go two ways.
  21. Kepa’s awful, why would want him?
  22. Well, this is where it becomes more complex. The Conservative Party is made up of various internal groupings who have their own ideas on what it means to be Conservative - you may have heard of the “5 families” term, that has been used of late to indicate the ideological splits within the party? One of these groups is the Conservative Growth Group or CGG who’s ideas centre around the economy - they want free markets, lower taxes and smaller state - and a key idea behind all this; implementing Keynesian style economics. With Johnson resigning, this group probably saw Truss - who had been Cosplaying as Margaret Thatcher for the best part of a year - as the best choice they had within their ranks to get their hands on the reigns of power. I also estimate that within the group they probably viewed Truss as a ‘useful idiot’ - a puppet they could manage - after all this is someone that’s gone from being a Lib Dem, a Remainer and a fanatic of ‘Pork Markets’ to a staunch Brexiter. Clearly what they didn’t account for was what would happen once Truss got her head in front, as she ploughed head first into metaphorical fence after metaphorical fence whilst trying to bolt towards the finish line - and how much reflective damage this has caused to the image of their economic ideas. Suffice to say, the descriptive ‘useful’ is no longer used when referring to Truss.
  23. The Tory party membership didn’t want to vote for the short brown guy.
  24. Iversen will leave in this window - either permanently or on loan.
  25. I’m sure I’ve seen suggestions we played a simple 4-4-2 here Strider… might have just been a case of playing a formation that aided getting players minutes in the right positions.
