Credit where credit is due, at least they are getting people in. Not the quality we are hoping to see, but we aren't going to sign world beaters either. Makes me feel slightly better, but I would agree that we are much weaker overall than last season. Hopefully there's maybe a couple more signings in the barrell.

Cecily Wellesley-Smith has joined on loan. Plays will Las in the England set up, be interesting to see how much game time she gets.
-
We see it a lot with Men's teams, come up from the championship, spend huge money, but can't get their team to gel and end up either going straight back down or at least very close. QPR and Forest come to mind
-
In normal circumstances, this would probably be a decent transfer, experienced head that may help the squad generally. But we need something a bit more inspiring.
-
Strange they didnt announce this days ago, makes me think that Beard is imminent and maybe they hoped to get him officially in before the weekend.
-
If I knew how to embed a tweet, I would. But Emma Saunders has now said that we are looking to take Lucy Parry on loan from Liverpool, but unlikely.

I guess that you maybe then have work permit barriers though. Not sure what the rules would be, just guessing.

Best get looking to spend record amounts as well now then...

I thought we started to get it together after the contract renewals and getting some new signings in, fast forward a couple of weeks later and yes, we're in disseray. And with deadline day tomorrow, doesn't look like it will improve much. Hearing a lot of other pundits expectations being the same, in that we are just too thin of a squad and almost all putting us bottom.
-
I think with the "why Everton?" question, I think they fancy themselves as the new Brighton in investing in their womens team considerably since the new owners came in. I think they are hoping to challenge the top 4/5. Mad that deadline day is tomorrow and yet aside from the rumour about van egmont, we've heard nothing else about in-commers.

It's a huge shame that we've sold her, I really would love to know the rationale behind it. I know everyone's first thought is "the club are clueless" ect... But I really don't think we'd let one of our best players leave unless there was a good reason. Maybe there was a bit of an Isak-ness about it? I don’t claim to know Mace as a person, but reading her body language, she didn't seem to show that she enjoyed herself here, even despite being a fan favourite. But maybe she is just quite like a dry person and doesn't really show her emotions like that (nothing wrong with it, just wondering).

I did wonder if maybe he was going to be Beard's no.2, so maybe gives some semblance of continuity when he does actually take over, assuming that it's still a goer. Can't see that he's worked with Beard before though.
-
Yes, that was my thought too, along with the fact that £100k is a decent fee. Potentially the only silver linings in this situation. But its with the caveat that they actually reinvest it back into the squad. Pretty big caveat...
-
That's shocking to be fair. I hoped it was just a bit of papertalk on the first roumer. I can't lie, my optimism is fading fast at this point. I guess at least we can say we probably got a reasonable fee for her to reinvest, but doesn't look as though there's going to be much of that either.
-
Good point, didn’t consider that! In other news, according to Google, they are currently playing London City Lionesses in a friendly. Nowhere to watch it, ect... so I guess just have to keep an eye out for the score.

Finding it odd that Beard hasn't been announced yet, id have thought that it was likely that an agreement was reached prior to letting Miquel go. (Enter rant about how shambolic the club is run) Which for what its worth, I dont wholly agree with. And I think unless you work for the club at a decent level in the hierarchy, you will not know for certain.
-
There can't be any smoke without fire, id imagine that they are just waiting for there to be a formal agreement in place with Beard and announce it all at once. I'd be extremely surprised if it doesn't happen now. The silence reveals more than them coming out with a statement at this point, they can't come out and deny it, then a day later reveal him as the new manager. If it was complete rubbish, I would expect a statement before the end of the day backing her.
-
Ah, well there we go. Its a shame and I do think its very unfair on Miquel. As I mentioned earlier, Beard is a great manager and from what I hear is also very well liked by players. Baring all that in mind, there is more potential there for us to move up and improve, but for me, Miquel just didnt have a fair crack at it and so it feels sour.
-
Beard is a great manager and I'd snap your hand off typically, but so close to the start of the season seems like a big risk. I'm also not that down on Miquel, think she could still do a decent job. Would seem harsh to sack her after a season defined by a huge injury crisis and still managed to improve on prior seasons points totals. If it happened, I wouldn't be upset about it, just a little concerned.
-
I wouldn't necessarily expect the Men's team social media to post anything about it (though cross-promotion would be great). The women's social media hasn't had anything at all either. I still stand by that I believe that the socials for both Men's and womens teams should be on the one account, creating the segregation means there's a lack of visibility and missed marketing opportunities.
-
Drew 1-1 to Villa in a friendly yesterday. Its a shame that the club aren't writing about it at all or making any reference to it even on their social media.
-
Refreshing to see a player that wants to be here. Interesting that it was reported the offer for Mace was also £100k
-
Uh oh... First Momiki, now Mace. It started to look positive for a little bit with us getting players in.
