I find his words and interviews very interesting, I see none of the stuff others have said about him being true. Maybe I’m falling for all the words, phrases or fluff, whatever you want to call it. But, he’s said nothing wrong and so far not put a foot wrong with us. It seems like he’s identified weaknesses in our team, whether that be mentality or lack of workers in the team and is addressing that. I am beginning to get excited for the season, and on the basis of our pre-season work so far I don’t understand why others wouldn’t be either. No doubt others will feel different and suggest “what happens when we lose?” All I can say is we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

I really have no idea what he will bring to the team/club. I do get a sense that RM knows and has worked with him before so sees a quality that we’re missing or need. If we pair him with Chaplin then we might have a similar forward line to Nuge and Vardy, albeit not the same quality. Maybe RM has seen a gap in the players mentality or work rate and has identified Cullen as a player to fill that void. According to google (bookmark this and pelt me if it’s wrong), he’s a hard runner and someone who works hard for his team, drops deep and likes to make runs to open up space for teammates. If he does sign I’ll support him, and hope he does well. Our forward line can’t get much worse than the previous year.

On pre-season form I’d have to say Aluko, he’s had some very strong performances (at least on the streams available) and his ball carrying ability has been reminiscent of Ricky P in some instances. JJ is a very capable back-up/ cup player and if form/fatigue comes into play I’d happily play him. He had some solid reviews from his time on loan. I don’t have many concerns other than them being young and with a lot of pressure they might have games where they struggle. I just hope RM sticks with them if times get a bit tough.

What I like is that he’s setting the expectations of the squad and all around the club. He said getting promoted is first and foremost which I like. It’s challenging the players which can be a good thing. So far, he’s not done anything wrong and only positive views are being shared. Whatever happened to giving people a chance? I know it’s only pre-season and we can’t read too much into it, but I’ve seen a lot of players fight and win the ball back, run for each other covering and supporting, aggressive pressing and some fast fluid pieces of play. There’s a lot to be positive about currently and I really believe the more we practice the better we will get. The true test is in the first “real” game of the season. I think my only concern with RM currently is he said in his post match interview that he’d have liked us to hold the ball more and not concede the equaliser… however he did say that the players thought and believed they could score more. Personally, I’m a huge fan of that and would always encourage a team to keep attacking and not allowing pressure to be put on us. I guess we’ll see what happens on the first game if we’re winning, will we revert to passing around keeping possession and then lose it when under pressure or do we attack? My head says the former but my heart wants the later.

If he is so unfit then surely a pay as you play contract would be best, assuming he’ll go for that. I wouldn’t want to be lumbered with a player who might not play more than 10 games per season.

Don’t think we didn’t sign Chaplin to just sit around. I’m quite excited to see him once he’s up to speed, I can see him being our main ST with Alves or Braybrooke behind.

If that’s the case then yes, I’m jealous too haha. I just struggle to see any benefit of going just solely for watch a preseason game. Competitively then yes, 100% would be annoyed and disappointed at venue changes etc.

So you’re telling me, the only reason to go to Spain was to watch a pre-season kick about and not a holiday? That seems highly unlikely to me, seems you’re more annoyed at not getting to watch them close to your hotel/resort.
