  1. Still at 11/8 on betfair, as he was earlier this morning.
  2. We weren't. There was zero contact between us and Preki. The club was completely baffled by that rumour.
  3. Odds are shortening because a handful of punters have read that he wants the job and have put a fiver on it. It means nothing.
  4. Nonsense. Ghandi was brilliant in Sexy Beast. He really tapped into a darker side of his character that never really came out when he was leading the peaceful resistance to British colonial rule in India.
  5. I do indeed think he's overhyped - that's precisely the point. There are a number of clubs in a better position than ourselves that would take him. He knows this and is biding his time for one of those opportunities or for the England job. His stock is undoubtedly still quite high - whether that's justified or not is a matter for debate. I just can't see him deciding to jump back into management with a PL team that faces the kind of challenges that we face at the moment.
  6. Potter isn't coming. He's waited a long time to get back into management and he's not about to jump back in with a move to a club that is about to be hit with at least one points deduction, and possibly more. He'll either take the England job or return to a PL side in a more stable condition than we currently find ourselves in.
  7. Totally agree. His reputation massively exceeds his achievements. I'm not saying he's a terrible manager, but there's a huge disconnect between how people view him and what he's actually done. It's weird.
  8. You can still get 10/1 in some places.
  9. It was reported in the press, like everything else we know, but the wording of it suggested that the journalist (Percy?) had been told that we are willing to pay compensation and was not just guessing. In any case, I'm certain that if the club's first choice for the job is currently working, it will pay the compensation rather than opt for an inferior choice just because they're not currently working.
  10. if that's the case, does it mean we won't get the compensation until after the new accounting period begins (which won't help much with our efforts to avoid breaching for the current period)...?
  11. He left because Chelsea came in for him. The board isn't responsible for that. He'd very probably have accepted Chelsea's offer even if we had no points deduction looming and a decent transfer budget.
  12. Or it shows that we're targeting somebody currently in a job and we can't afford the compo until 1 July.
  13. "There will be inevitable disappointment in the Leicester dressing room but, equally, some players will be unmoved. "Maresca was so devoted to his philosophy that he could at times become stubborn and dogmatic. It was a meeting called by senior Leicester players towards the end of the season that helped them over the line." I wonder which players will be feeling 'unmoved' today...?
  14. Where did you get that from?
  15. Wasn’t it more the case that certain players made him feel unwelcome because he’d (quite rightly) pushed Thomas out of the first eleven?
  16. It's interesting that opinion seems so overwhelmingly negative about the prospect of it being Cooper. I always think it's useful to take note of how potential managers are regarded at their former clubs. As far as I can tell, Cooper is still held in very high regard at Swansea and Forest, and was apparently very well-thought of for his work in the England youth set-up. I just have this weird feeling that if it does end up being him, he might be one of those managers whose arrival is treated negatively by the fans but who goes on to become a bit of a legend.
  17. Nor would I. If we lived in an alternative world in which we had no points deduction to worry about, had been financially well-managed over the past few years and had a sizeable transfer kitty to play with this summer, I'd probably be a little underwhelmed by some of those names. However, as we are facing a points deduction and will have limited room for manoeuvre in the transfer market, I'd be happy to take anybody who gives us a fighting chance of survival.
  18. Was it a regular-sized bag or a 1kg sharing bag? These details matter.
  19. I’d really like to know how much that ‘extra for staff’ amounts to.
  20. If Southgate leaves after the Euros and Potter wants the job, he will be offered it. That’s not arrogance - it’s just the reality of the situation.
  21. I wondered that. When does pre-season start? A whole extra month of alternating despair and excitement in response to baseless rumours - what a time to be alive!
  22. According to The Times, we’re in ‘no hurry’ to appoint a new manager. For those without a subscription, other highlights include: *Several out-of-work managers are thought to be interested in the job *However, we are not restricted to currently unemployed managers and are willing to pay compensation for the right man *There has been no contact between the club and Steve Cooper although he is keen to return to the PL *Vardy and Vestergaard are both expected to stay irrespective of who comes in
  23. No. But either Enzo’s contract or our compensation package has yet to be finalised…
  24. No. Neither has Chelsea.
