  1. More trouble looming for Everton?
  2. As a general point I don’t think fans and clubs would just accept losing to an offside goal or a dive penalty as it meant fans of the other team could celebrate properly or there was no hanging around tbh . Particularly if it was a real shocker . And I wouldn’t expect them too either . But it is pointless having a system which creates more confusion, controversy and debate than ever .
  3. Man U scored 9 goals away and got 1 point from those 3 games . MEN claiming one of the Gala goals should have been disallowed. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/galatasaray-goal-vs-manchester-united-28199540 But do VAR check for such stuff under their guidelines?
  4. I guess so but think a few thought it wasn’t.
  5. Probably worried he would be told off by them for not following the guidelines.
  6. Ref used his own feeling then rather than just follow the rules ?!
  7. Well it would be a good idea if they changed their decision more in the right way as in the Everton/Man U game but sometimes they do it for the sake of doing so or don’t get called at all when they ought to be .
  8. Well this is one keeper who wasn’t protected by the ref and paid the price ! https://twitter.com/BarnsleyFC/status/1729635267416346812?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet
  9. I suppose these refs probably think they will get into trouble if they don’t follow the guidelines set by their masters at the top rather than use common sense .
  10. Yes definitely with some tough games to come . Hull Saints Ipswich Preston
  11. Fair point ! I think the main issue will be how it’s used consistently wise . We’ll have the same old problem of one ref thinking a tackle is worth a sin bin but another not for exactly the same sort of incident.
  12. Probably STHs counted who hadn’t turned up . Only 21 so definitely has the potential to be very good . Canadian international.
  13. Soon be all handballs given like any contact with the foot in hockey .
  14. Just be an excuse for time wasting and defensive football .
  15. Only 16K. Back to crowds pre Pozzos really . Deserved to win after the poor start . Fully dominated them tbf . Livermore and Kone excellent.
  16. Shocking for both goals . Cannot pass or mark up. Great hit for the 2nd mind you .
  17. Teams will just time waste and sit back for 10 minutes or get someone from the opposing team sin binned .
  18. For factual stuff might work but again free kicks and yellow cards are subjective so will basically be down to the call of the ref at the time and another one might think differently. A bit like this idea for sin bins. https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2023/nov/28/sin-bins-football-trial-ifab-referees-abuse Again going to be down to subjectivity so cause debate once more .
  19. Exactly - and most things in cricket like tennis and rugby are factual rather than subjective as in football . Would it be certain the decisions will get better and more consistent,
  20. Apparently the on field ref has admitted the first penalty decision was an error so again a bad look for the officials.
  21. I think it would make no difference. You’d still get subjective debatable decisions. A team might appeal an obvious dive or foul but ref could still disagree with them so does anything change . We’d still get angry fans and managers afterwards.
  22. They cannot do a 2nd yellow tbf . (Yet) Agree they said on TS the Wolves lad was too honest . They will probably say it’s been consistent by giving 2 penalties for the same sort of incident.
  23. Think Gary O’Neil will combust !
  24. I am surprised it’s taken so long to come up really . Ok least a corner or not can be factual but again second bookings are subjective so we’ll have more inconsistency.
  25. Of course having a ref being told to review a decision by a team doesn’t mean they will go the way said team want them to. The ref might still think it’s not a foul or handbell for example. I am not sure you would get much difference as they will still be making a subjective decision.
