Aluko looked like he was trying desperately to impress soon as he came on. Joseph looked really composed throughout the game, clearly being coached to tuck into the centre of midfield at times. Played a couple of passes that didn’t come off but at least he was trying to move the ball forward. Thought he and Braybrooke were easily our two best players. Fingers crossed we start season well enough and persuade them to sign new deals.
-
At least they do appear to be turning lowball bids down
-
Yep his interview of wanting to play a lot this season and be the guy clearly fell on deaf ears for RM who has marginalised him. Really depressing but reality of how low our lowest point will get, and this isn’t it yet
-
Hopefully can hold onto Braybrooke and get really decent money for Page - seems clear that Martin isn’t up for starting him much given who he’s bought in and so while a vile state of affairs getting in a very decent pure profit figure and a whacking sell on %age helps us. What we need to do now though is invest some of it in up and coming players who we can turn for a profit in future. Ethan Pye at Stockport, Jayden Wareham and Abdul Abdulmalik three obvious ones.
-
Worrying really and Martin probably knew this was happening with hindsight given we’ve prioritised players in his position broadly this window and he’s clearly gone for Skipp in the 6. Reality is he is unlikely to be first pick based on who we’ve signed and so we need to get every penny we can and a massive sell on. Shame he’s clearly gonna play right at the top level
-
Agreed however he will be a shocker in this system, not a ball player just a guts and thunder defender. Could easily get two in, one perm and one loan, who can sort their feet out without needing time to stand still, with the cash for him.

Notts Co v Leicester Pre match thread

Depends which CB leaves this week if at all, and if Okoli is injured. Prob look like this though Mccarthy, Joseph, Faes, Souttar/Okoli, Thomas, Skipp, Braybrooke, Alves, Watson, Burns, Cullen subs Stol, Aluko, McFarlane, Choudhury, Page, Chaplin, Mavididi -
Very concerning we could only come up with no more than a couple of decent opportunities against that low block today. However I would argue that a large part of that is down to the triangle of mediocrity of Okoli, Souttar and Skipp we saw today. Braybrooke would be a much better option in the 6, as would Page, and two centre halves who don’t need 5 seconds to sort their feet out before looking up for a pass would make a huge difference to us.
-
The swamp is nowhere near drained. Reid, Mavididi abominations of footballers. Thomas awful. Okoli can’t play this style of football. Souttar the definition of going through the motions. Choudhury strolling around collecting his £20k vile. Braybrooke and Joseph the bright spots. Burns looks decent. We need ball playing centre halves and a proper outlet up front if we are going to be anywhere near title challengers. Boring nothing football, didn’t deserve a clean sheet with that defending. Oh dear.

Joseph steady, Skipp meh, Braybrooke has been hands down our best player. Okoli cannot play the sort of football Martin wants to play. End of story. Will cost us 15 goals this season Reid needs to go and play in America somewhere Mavididi has been shite for over two years now and looks like he doesn’t want to be a footballer Alves flattered to deceive, nothing end product Cullen absolutely anonymous is he even playing? -

Not a chance Souttar’s heart is in this either. Needs to go this week so we can get a starting CB in -

Mavididi and BDCR aren’t National League north level. They’ve become a pair of non footballers. Nothing redeeming for either of them. **** them off out the squad -

‘Personal reasons’ - hopefully code for a move close rather than he’s got something that’s happened with family etc -

No Wout Farce on the bench a very positive thing. Hopefully McFarlane not crocked. Next couple of weeks you’d hope Watson, Burns and a new CF phased in and Mavididi and BDCR can then get in the bin. -
Think we will see two in two out re CBs between now and the window. Faes has the shittest agent on earth if he doesn’t get some sort of move and Souttar will go but on our terms. We will buy a decent CB and loan one in
-
Frees a wage up to bring in a CB on loan potentially

Think if we’d have had Watson, Chaplin, Cullen and Burns instead of Mavididi Ayew Fatawu and Winks for the last couple of months of the season we’d have stayed up no danger. -

Cropwellfox replied to Spudulike's topic in Leicester City Forum
Does seem that not being able to move any of the four CBs out and Wilson-Brown not in the picture is a problem for us. Especially as one of them now looks crocked. Surely need one CB who’s going to be a first choice this season on board this week. -
It’s ironic really, after the past four years of squad bloated with players that were a bunch of detestable leaches, we now have a really promising set of younger players coming through who have benefited from Seagrave, but it’s likely too little too late to save the club from insolvency in the end.
-
It is an absolute knock out punch for the decision making morons involved in scouting to negotiating. A CFO with half a brain could’ve seen this coming two summers ago, while we were spending around £35m on Okoli and Skipp, two players who we don’t trust in league one, and giving Vestergaard another 3 year contract. If we’d have gone up to the prem and spent absolutely nothing at all we’d have been in a hugely better position now. The mismanagement just kept ticking on until it’s become too late to salvage anything
