tried that, the reinstall failed, but the driver was still there with code 39.

I was expecting you to give me a smart-ass comment about 'this not happening on a mac', but thanks. Now we've got the USB's running we can back-up all of our stuff. Dad's going to talk to the IT Techs at work, and then see, but I reckon your right.

Right, our Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop was working fine until recently, all the drivers got corrupted, with a 'Code 39'. This includes, the modem, the wifi chip, the speakers, basically anything you plug in. The usb's and dvd drive were down as well, but we managed to fix those, but with the usbs we have no clue how we did it. We've searched the net high and low, tried everything its said, and to no avail. We've also used the discs that came with, and nothing happened. Anyone able to help? Thanks.
