Best goal you've seen scored against us
murphy replied to foxfanazer's topic in Leicester City Forum
I've never been one to appreciate opposition goals. They all hurt, but if I absolutely had to pick one, it would be Ben Chilwell's millimetre offside disallowed goal agianst us in The FA Cup final. That was beautiful!- 181 replies

In his last season at Saints he was part of the defence that conceded 68 goals. Beaten only by relegated West Brom's 76.

I haven't followed Vestergaard's career prior to joining us but I do know that when we signed him and Bertrand, we were signing half of the second worst defence in the league. A defence that we had put nine past ourselves. I think many of us were baffled and horrified in equal measure. A quick trip to Saints Web showed me that many of the Southamoton fans were more than happy to let him go and equally baffled. His subsequent eleven PL games for us were an abomination. I can't understand that anyone that witnessed it would advocate using Vestergaard in the PL again. He was dropped as he was clearly not fit for purpose. Vestergaard's apologists point to the fact that he had no pre season and somehow it was Rodgers; fault that he was as weak as a kitten, but I never want to see that again. Personally, I think that we will re sign Vestergaard as I can't see another PL club offering him a job and when he is targeted week after week and his lack of mobility is exposed time and again, you will all turn on him again. Its as if we have all forgotten how bad it was the first time around. To me it's a bit like thinking to oneself "That Liz Truss wasn't that bad was she? maybe worth another go...."

I stand corrected. Dizzy heights indeed, My apologies to Palace fans everywhere. As much as I enjoy patronising and belittling Palace, if you had given me the choice of us becoming a mid table top tier side as a kid growing up in the eighties, I would have snatched your arm off.
-
You say that, but these are the glory days if you're a Palace fan. For a club that has won nothing, ever, not a sausage and has spent years in the doldrums before finally reaching the top tier in the nineties, they are living the dream.

Ipswich really on the slide now. Gutted we chucked away four points there.

I wonder if we're trying to develop McAteer as a homegrown asset to sell in the summer?
-
I think he must be rationing his appearances, especially against lowly opposition, so that we don't trigger the obligation clause.

Three times? Once might be considered unfortunate. Twice, careless, but three tiimes?

No, but our predicament with FFP has been ongoing for a few seasons now, pre relegation and affecting our business in previous windows . There are all kinds of reasons why we have become a badly run club from poor recruitment, to Rodgers' obscene contract, to over-paying ordinary players and being lumbered with them. Top even ordered an investigation about how we got into such a mess. It goes back to Vichai's death, I believe. I won't pretend that I know a huge amount about FFP, I'll leave that to the amateur accountants on here, but i do know that last season we sat bottom of the five year net spend league table, of all clubs that had been in the Premier League that long, Do you think we are a well run club?
-
A badly run club is also one that can't buy a single player for buttons because it is in a mess with FFP.
