I'm not sure how it can be considered long ball when we had one of the best midfields outside of the top six in Lennon and Izzet.

I remember reading, before I had really heard of him, that the club think he might be a 'generational talent'. This was a year or two ago and I have searched in vain to find the quote online so I can't be entirely certain that I didn't dream it.

Working in Leeds as a Leicester fan
murphy replied to huddersfieldfox's topic in Leicester City Forum
This thread reads as if a lot of us have actually accepted and expect defeat tomorrow. I thought that we were the big dogs of this division? My advice to those of you that work with insufferable Leeds fans is to ham it up. Meet fire with fire. 'See' their over confidence and raise them several levels of smugness. We have plenty of material. Give them both barrels and don't worry about pride coming before a fall because if we lose, you were always going to get it on Monday anyway. -
I'm not sure that Jannick Vestergaaard bears comparison with Bobby Moore. Before my time, Bobby Moore, but I suspect that if he was slow in a foot race he was quick in the mind. Football has changed a great deal since then.
-
I don't think that you can compensate for a player being as glacially slow as Vestergaard is, just by having a faster defender in the team as both players will occupy different positions on the pitch. Unless the quick guy is standing on Jannick's toes,or he is in fact a racehorse, he's not going to be close enough to make the difference. I think that Vestergaard would be targeted for his lack of pace and mobility. He can get away with it in a dominant Championship team,

Was hoping to see Alves on the bench

This Boro lot don't half get about. It's not fair. Why haven't I got a Boro supporting mate?
-
Wants them to lose? The other day I read a whole slew of pages about how we are a terrible fanbase (forget the thread), the authors of course didn't include themselves in that assessment, but this should serve to remind us that football fans are the same across the country.
-
Yes. There are tectonic plates that move faster than Vestergaard. But it's not just about straight line speed, its also about mobility, speed on the turn and speed of thought. All of these things were exposed in the Premier League and would be again. Yes, he can play and he can pass but he's not a good enough defender imo and gets away with it in a dominant team at this level.

Any attempt to do that should be bead-batted away. That is not a precedent we want to set. I wouldn't be against rehabilitating him back into the squad next year if he wants it.
-
I would like to see Cov narrowly miss out and then have their players preyed upon as if they were some fetid carcass being picked apart by vultures and then doomed to languish in the lower leagues for decades to come. Ir would be fun.

Ipswich 3-0 up at half time with only two shots on target. Impressive!
-
Match this and we take Reading's points record with two games to spare.

Well that's not all your saying as you've called him terrible, dogger (sic) and woeful. I am saying, how do you know? No player comes from the academy to the first team fully formed. We've seen it it many times before. He might make it, he might not, but at this stage we don't really know where his ceiling is as he is still finding his feet. Any criticism should be tempered with the acknowledgement that he is a kid that still has his L-plates on and often played out of position.
-
Fred Elliott's going to be gutted tonight. I say...gutted tonight. Bless!
-
Really? Don't you understand the learning curve that any player coming out of the academy into the first team has to go on? He is in the early stages of his development, hence why he, or any kid coming through, deserves more patience than an established pro.
-
Its a shame we've landed on an academy kid with just handful of appearances for us as our new whipping boy.

I like the team of the week. Not really following other Championship clubs, it gives me an idea about who I'd like us to nab for next season. I really hope that one of the lesser teams like Hull or Norwich comes up via the playoffs, for three reasons. It would likely tie up a relegation place next year, it would be very hilarious to leave Leeds behind in The Championship and it would give us better options to grab some players.

This obligation business, triggered by appearances, seems very unfair to the player and less than satisfactory to both parent club and to ourselves. If it's true, Yunus will likely sit out the remaining third of the season and have wasted another year of his career, we can't get full use out of the player and parent club doesn't get the value of having him play or showcase his talents in the shop window. If I were Rudkin, I'd get on the phone to Galatasaray and say, look, we don't want to sign him, but let's scrap this obligation thing for the benefit of all parties for the rest of the season.

I think he will go on to have a very successful courier.

Didn't realise that Ipswich had drawn earlier today. They have really fallen away. If we win today, they will be 15 points behind with 15 to play.
-
Three academy graduates in the XI and three on the bench. So, tell me again, how we bought the league....?

To make sense of the Coady signing, I think that we have to remember what a basket case of disarray this team was at the end of last season. We were crying out for leaders and Coady fit the bill. Yes, we overpaid and in hindsight it was unnecessary as Enzo has managed to quickly chase away those dark clouds of gloom, but it made sense to me at the time.
