I only have two watches these days that I alternate between, a Seiko and a Citizen. Both beautiful and if they keep going for another 30 years they will hopefully see me out.
My husband has a fancy Citizen that supposedly adjusts to the time zone you're in, it's never worked properly, but thankfully he loves the navy blue Casio G Shock that I bought him last year and he wears nothing else since.
My wife's Citizen eco drive is now 17 years old and still going strong eventhough she recently jumped in a swimming pool wearing it! No batteries and no servicing required.
Is yours an eco drive? Has it needed any work done to it in 30 years?

I believe so yes, I would like to visit Japan one day and get a bargain grand seiko - I'm sure they are about £2000 less than what they retail for on Chrono and the UK
Sounds like a great trip. Might be some tax implications?

The time it takes to make the watch and the detail/precision that goes into it, and the Zaratsu hand polishing. Swiss movement which are the best etc
Most watch companies make a big mark up as well, some 6/7 times cost price
Christopher Ward UK brand I am a big fan of and have a watch of theirs, they have a rule where the price is always 3 x the cost to make the watch
I'm not sure they are brute looking but each to their own, i would associate breitling, some of the coloured dial submariners as more brute and flash
Up to 40% of Swiss movements can legally be made in China (or other places) nowadays. Not that it's a problem but they like to play on the 'Swiss made' logo. They are mass produced and very overpriced.
Grand Seiko is exclusively Japanese, I think.

What makes a Grand Seiko worth up to £12'000? They don't look particularly nice or stylish, but rather brute for my liking.
How much?! Available new for half of that. Still a lot of money for a watch but it's for life and can be passed down. I think it looks elegant with a classic design. Proper dress watch.

Grand Seiko is an amazing watch. Very classy. I'd be worried about it getting damaged or stolen. Servicing cost must be eye watering

Not sure if this coach has been mentioned among our possible candidates but seems to be rumoured for Blackburn alongside Challinor and Bilic.
Wouter Vrancken.

I think the majority of good decent, society contributing people won’t do that. Only utter shit head scumbags tar entire communities/religions when incidents like this happen. The stains on community.
Most people can see this for what it is.
I absolutely agree. However, it did at times seem the entire western worlds white population were vilified following the George Floyd incident. The world had lost it's collective head during those covid times and the consequences are still being felt.

I remain sceptical. Martin would be an absolutely terrible choice for so many reasons—it’s almost impossible to identify logical thought process that would lead to him being appointed. Having been plunged down two divisions by our defensive abjectness, are we really about to appoint somebody who is famous for his inability to coach a defence? At a time when the club’s relationship with the fans is at an all-time low, are they really going to make an appointment they know will make things even worse? Left to their own devices, I suppose Top and Rudkin might just make a decision as bad as this—hopefully our new Sporting Director and CEO will steer us away from it.
I've come to the conclusion that Foxestalk is completely out of step and our fanbase will think that Martin will be great for us, cos' Top says so.

My first sentence was referring to the riots after duggans death.
To be honest I think those riots were a real turning point in this country both in terms of how the lessons the state took on how to deal with such disorder but also how so many people basically defended the actions of the rioters.
More recently was the Chris Kaba shooting. The Police rushed out the footage and other evidence to quell the uprising before it became out of control.

On that point though, what's to gain from putting him into cuffs or the awareness that they might not trigger an allergic reaction with food? That part of the Police behaviour isn't in question. They have a situation in control and that would happen in such example if felt appropriate.
It's the first part of the sorry situation is incredibly poor policing leading to uncomfortable questions.
Certainly more to gain than placing in cuffs an 18-year old lying on the ground posing no threat.

I'll wager that whenever the police recieve a report of a crime and treat it as an emergency that the caller is believed and that the accused is not. Clearly lessons need to be learned but this was a chaotic situation and police had difficulty decisions to make under pressure and with limited information.
Something has really gone wrong if that's the case.
I don't agree that it was a chaotic situation. They would've been in far greater pressure situations.
I don't want to hear about lessons being learned. How many lessons do they need?

The murderer wasn't put in handcuffs at any point when being taken to the police station despite what became clearly evident. Once there, he was even allowed into the kitchen to choose his food. No idea if this is routine practice for all. Henry's Father's statement references the 'unbearable' contrast with the treatment given to his son. This has to be the catalyst for change.
The investigation, including IOPC, report has to determine if a member of the public is being presumed guilty if they have been accused of racism. Kemi is right. Enough of this.

Farage has come out and said what happened to Henry should be met with 'pure cold rage'.
What kind of comment or statement is that? Hate never wins over hate. Violence never wins over violence. It just causes more pain.
It begs the question does he see this as an opportunity to peddle more 'incitement' or actually find a way of tackling the problems in society. Cold rage doesn't cut it any more.
I haven't heard the Farage statement but who or what is he saying should be met with 'pure cold rage'?

Digwa gave the knife to his mother and it was later found by police at their family home along with more than 20 other weapons.
The Sikh Federation said the blade used by Digwa was not a religious knife, known as a kirpan.
Digwa is a **** and it was a matter of time he did something like this unfortunately the SIkh name has been tarnished.
It really shouldn't be. People that follow the Sikh religeon have rightly and swiftly called it out.

But unless I’ve read it wrong, it’s not a racially motivated murder, it’s just a lunatic that likes violence?
the defence of that officer is that he thought everyone there was pissed up and it wasn’t a big issue. Idk you hear Tommy Robinson talking about how Sikh people are sound. Your regular EDL marcher loves Sikh people but hey Nigel and Suella see it as a political opportunity to slag off the browns and consolidate their vote.
That does seem to be the case but the lunatic immediately and successfully used the racism accusation to distract the police officers. Even family members were shouting 'racist' from the public gallery as the judge read out his closing statement.

That policy was made as a result of the George Floyd case in a foreign country with a completely different form of policing seems very odd to me.
Doesn't help when you see the leader of the opposition on his knee in a bid to win votes.
56 minutes ago, davieG said:Can you really blame them if it had been a case of racism they would have been vilified in the media with demands for them to be sacked which they're getting anyway from the opposing point of view. We're looking like we've going from institutional racism to believing it's always that for fear of being wrong.
It's a lose / lose situation which is happening in most spheres of life due to the constant media clamour of righteousness and for punishment.
Everyone knows best.
The Pakistani grooming/rape gangs investigations blew this out into the open. Seems that nothing had been learned.
We have violent agitators just waiting to stir up trouble at the slightest hint of police racism.

Not followed the story until reading a bit today but what was the motive? What led to the stabbing? Just random attack on someone walking past or were they known to each other?
I understand it may be difficult to know what's happened when 2 sides are telling a story, without any information but to blatantly ignore someone when they repeatedly say they've stabbed is disgraceful. You have to investigate it.

Only us, Sheff Wed and Blackburn currently managerless in the top 3 tiers? Any others?

Blackburn would be closer to him than us cannot see him choosing us over them, when they are in a division higher.Only for now. Blackburn only avoided relegation due to our points deduction. Get him down to Seagrave.
Sheff Wed the only other possibility currently. Unless he wants a break until something better comes up before Christmas.

I really fancy an Aqua Terra with a quartz movement but couldn't bring myself to pay over £2k for a 10-20 year old watch. Also very wary of fakes.
