Bought a San Martin off AliExpress last year as a beater. 9015 Miyota mechanism, I'm having a very difficult time regulating it to keep it losing minutes a day. It was -/+30 seconds a day before I tried to tinker it myself, but after multiple goes it's running 4 or so minutes a day fast, can't get a grip of it.

Point of it was a nice cheap mech I could bash about and don't fancy paying loads to get it sorted. Nice looking thing though - SN0150

Is watchmaking a hobby for you? I could never wear a watch that loses or gains that much in a day. Never know what the time is! Even the 'luxury' auto brands aren't accurate.

  2. Some very decent designs available but most are only available with auto/mechanical movements. I've got my Dad's watch but couldn't wear it as a daily because of all that winding and resetting the time that it needs. Why would you want to do that when quartz provides accuracy and always ready to go? Is anyone really that interested in what's going on inside? Add this to the servicing costs which makes some automatics not cost effective and almost disposable. A quartz will last a lifetime with periodic battery changes (or none if it's light powered). My wife has a Citizen eco-drive that hasn't missed a beat in 17 years!

I've got a Bulova Jet Star with the Precisionist movement. Super accurate with a sweeping second hand that beats any automatic. Can't recommend it enough.

  3. My Dad was having an altercation with a bloke in front about his massive flag obstructing his view. A frank exchange of opinions at various stages which I dismissed as nerves and tension.

During the goal celebration he was hugging and jumping up and down with flag bloke. Best mates by the end :D

This is the wrong approach - getting someone in in May or 1st July makes no odds, but I understand your frustration- taking our time doesn’t mean we are carefully selecting an appropriate manager for the most important season for the past 20 years - it probably means we are doing f all in the background.

Probably you're right. But equally any decent coach will have other options to explore before commiting. It could be seen as desperation if the new incumbant agrees so soon.

  5. Just watched Dear England on iPlayer. Expecting it to be rubbish but it was actually really good. Follows Southgate's arrival when the England team were at their lowest ebb after the Iceland humiliation and the Big Sam scandal.

Saw similarities with the psychology of our players, noteably the will to win and spilling over into a can't be bothered attitude due in some part to the heavy burden of history. 2015/16 will never be bettered. We all know that and neither will 1966. Probably.

  6. All the footage of players celebrating wildly together whilst watching an on-screen match elsewhere seems so stage managed since our players did it round at Vardy's in 2016. Don't ever remember it being done before as the players are not together. Just seems expected now and another part of the plastic Premier League.

    Was it done before 2016?
