Bare in mind I don't think Steve is there as a sole representative of the Trust. He's there (I think?) as a fan first and then a board member. If I'm right in thinking he's mentioned he was asked who he was. So yeah, the questions could have been tougher or more direct, and I don't think the Trust is avoidant of criticism. I would like to think the meeting with the Trust on Monday is more direct as there'll be plenty more time to reflect and be more assertive in preparing for speaking to the club. And yes, that would be the time to mention specifics as the club literally can't run or hide in those more official settings. I think we can agree we'd all do things differently. I would have but perhaps not to the extent that you or others would have. I wouldn't have gone in all guns blazing and expecting hard solid truths in that moment. I perhaps would have asked him more engaging questions, true.

It's not as bad as made out and I'd love to know word for word what you'd have said. The moment you'd have mentioned Rudkin or anyone specific, Top would have ran a mile. . It's not like this was a scheduled interview. Blame Top for missing the chance to connect with the fans on a true level, don't blame the fan(s) for not asking some hard-hitting top level journo questions in a manipulative and specific way. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, right. I'm willing to bet that if you were in that position last night you'd also have still come away thinking 'ah I could have asked this, I could have asked that...' etc.

This is a good point. Any kind of animosity towards Top and he runs off like a scared child. Had to engage with him first before he does that, so anyone who did speak to him yesterday, even if it wasn't full of vitriol and anger, had a short time to do so and probably didn't get as much off their chest as they wanted to. Top cowered a little bit, spoke softly and anxiously, and was clearly fairly intimidated given how far away he stood and how quiet and distant he was, in terms of his answers. He didn't really acknowledge the plight, just dismissed it and tried to get away with it by saying we'll look forward or try harder. If anything, it emphasises even more he didn't write any of that 'statement' about relegation, because he could have acknowledged so much more. It wasn't a missed opportunity by the fans speaking to him. It was a missed opportunity by Top to really connect.

I very much doubt it. I don't see any support for him at all these days.

I think you did okay in the circumstances considering a lot of the emotion at the time. Like you say, you probably had to be a bit careful otherwise he wouldn't have answered anything. I couldn't hear many of his answers and I doubt they were deep and meaningful. If you did ask about any staff in particular I doubt you would have heard what you and many others wanted to hear.
