Group E: Germany, Curaçao, Ivory Coast, Ecuador

Works for the Euros i think as there is less teams it works, but when it could get to Saturday/Sunday and teams know they are both threw on a draw and end up with them farcical matches again, then ontop of that there's a chance teams may have less that 48 hours notice of who they are playing and where is a joke. -

2006 we did. 2014 we played them in a warm up game for the world cup. -

Now at the point Scotland need to hope Belgium mess up and Alegria or Paraguay lose by 2 goals to stay in. Then again, cape Verde could get a draw too and be higher than them 🤣 -

Scotland with the collective groan. Steve Clarke will be buzzing though. Only manager at the world cup who doesnt seem to want to be there, including that one Tunisia sacked. -
My 16 year old has never had any of those. I was born in the late 80s and I only know of them as my parents spoke to me about them. I remember it being drilled into me from a very young age not to go over any fence to get close to quarry holes as they were dangerous and always told not to go into lakes and ponds. I was in France once and playing in a river on a school trip and got into trouble and it scared the shit out of me. We were fully life jacketed up, and I aint a bad swimmer, but i couldnt beat this current and couldnt get my legs going and it was terrifying enough I tell both my kids not to play in rivers or water that isnt a swimming pool or only about waist high in the sea if its calm and the flags allow it. I may he over protective or over sensitive, but i am terrified of open water for reasons like this with these people getting into trouble and going missing and 99/100 drowning.

5live are singing her praises at being fair and reasonable. So Scotland need Germany win or a draw here right as it keeps Ecuador out the top 8? Looking at this table, Scotland could actually move up this table still if others lose by enough. I dont mind it at the euros, but this seems too big and over too many days to work with this 3rd place stuff. -
South West going to be tasty tonight with the thunderstorms. Where I live may get some storms at 4am, but nowhere as crazy as its going to be there.

@filbertway pointed me in the way of BBC's schedule which is doing all the working out as everything stands. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/world-cup/schedule.app#KnockoutStage I have been using this myself just to track who is in, out and still in the mix. https://ranking.sfae.studio/

Monday: 1 year old had his jabs. Expected the usual side effects. Tuesday: heatwave starts and side effects of the ol Bradford & Bingleys start with him. Keep him hydrated etc. I start feeling a bit peaky. Wednesday: early hours of the morning, every person in the house is throwing up or recreating the laxative scene from dumb and dumber. Turns out it wasnt side effects. He had norovirus. We now all have it. Trying to rehydrate now an absolute swine. Thursday: 16 year old nearly better. My wife is just knackered. I got a bit of a bollocking as I fell sleep watching the Scotland game downstairs and woke up at half 5 with the patio door wide open and half of the garden wildlife banging at door mesh. Luckily I am one of those with portable air conditioning, but literally the worst time to get this shit. Feel for anyone who is having to even go out in this, let alone work.

What is with this defender takes the goal kick and just passes jt to the goalkeeper thing? Makes no sense to me. -

Still looks like there is lightning in the area. Wonder what happens if the players are bought of mid half for a delay. They have to stop in New Orleans too? -

Expecting Ayew to play like Messi tonight just to really, really wind me up and stick the knife in after the past few seasons. -
Thanks. I went digging as to why Mexico, USA and Germany were already down as group winners. I didn't realise GD means nothing now and H2H is the first tiebreaker. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cn94jrj8d5go

Found this page and think it may come in handy when we start getting to that 3rd place BS again. https://worldcup.sfae.studio/

Still, be funny if they beat the Brazilians wouldnt it? They would never shut up about it, build a statue and stick a traffic cone on its head.
