lc4lcfc Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 You only have to look at Chelsea to realise it isn't just about the defensive personnel. The 'experts' tore shreds into their midfield as they weren't covering and leaving captain slow exposed to pace. I think some of our issues can be solved by moving away from 442. I'm not even suggesting 3 at the back (though preferred) deploying kante in front of the cbs should help the shape of the team. Having said that I would like to see reinforcements, if not just for strength in depth, ranieri doesn't seem to rate big was and benny would not be in my starting line up given the choice! Also Simpson out and a new rb in, but I dont think we will see most of this til next summer.
eye666 Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 Think De Laet should've taken the man out when he was beaten and taken a yellow. Similar to King on Deeney day... The old saying of either the man or the ball gets past you, not both.
4ever and ever Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 I'm sorry but you can't blame Huth for their 2nd goal. He left the ball which put some more space between it and their striker and it gave Morgan some extra time to deal with it, yet he messed up. Ok, Huth could have just cleared it himself but then if we're going to start doing that then Huth's going to be steaming in front of Morgan at every opportunity as he can't be trusted? Morgan has been decent for us this season bar Saturday's mistake, it happens and hopefully he'll move on. But it was not Huth's fault, it was Morgan fannying about, had he dealt with it properly he was given some time to control the ball and start a passing move, wehere as if Huth had just cleared it it would have gone straight back to Stoke anyway. I wasnt laying the blame for the goal at Huth's door, if thats how it came across it wasnt intended. Morgan's mistake was the main reason the goal happened but was simply saying in that situation Huth could have cleared it, still doesnt mean Morgan didnt have enough time to deal with it easily. I agree that Morgan has looked better this season and isnt diving in as much as last season but made a bad mistake for that goal. I was trying to show that I feel in my opinion playing 3 at the back wouldnt have stopped that goal or even quite a few of the other goals we have conceded this season. Its a real hypothetical argument I know but just my feeling.
4ever and ever Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 Also having Kante in the centre of midfield where he should be and was for the second half will give Huth and Morgan the protection they need.
Freesolo Posted 22 September 2015 Author Posted 22 September 2015 Thinking about the Arsenal game,, Don't think it will be too bad as they don't attack down the flanks as much and with Kante in the Middle working his little cotton socks off hopefully we can nullify their attacks and we can do our thing, Think we would really struggle against a team like Palace if we defend the way we have been recently
sulfoxide Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 I can't help but feel a lot of our threat in scoring comes from our sometimes risky play. If you take out De Laet and Schlupp and replace them with steady full backs I'm pretty certain we will lose something. Hopefully
FerrisBueller Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 Branislav Ivanovic, being forced out the Chelsea team, out of contract at the end of this year...
Bayfox Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 Branislav Ivanovic, being forced out the Chelsea team, out of contract at the end of this year... How do you come to this conclusion? Constantly played at RB despite chelsea playing a RB at LB and spending a fortune on a LB at the end of the window and named as captain at the weekend. I know jose likes a mind game, but you can't tell me Ivanovic is leaving anytime soon and if he is, it won't be to us. I assume that but was tongue in cheek.
