Number 6 Posted 20 September 2015 Posted 20 September 2015 Not necessarily about personnel for me. Organising, the way we play as a team, people further forward doing their but all impact how many we concede. We're still trying to balance defence and attack at the moment I think. Having said that our central pairing is an aging one and I'd like to see us look for a long term replacement.
Countryfox Posted 20 September 2015 Posted 20 September 2015 This, in spades. That said, Schlupp's defending could go up a notch if he worked a bit more on his concentration at the back - could have prevented one of yesterday's goals had he kept alert. Only problem is that our capability of playing 3 at the back is currently dependent on 3 aged CBs, if we assume Was is still in the picture, unless Fuchs or Benny can step up. In the light of Moore's current demise, it would be good to have a younger CB in the squad who looks as if he will progress into the team. ..... And in answer to your second bit ... If Mr Walsh found a young uncut diamond CB would he alert the club or save to the memory banks for when Big Nige takes him to his next club ... (Calm down calm down ! .. A bit controversial I know but just a thought .. ).
Guest Cujek Posted 20 September 2015 Posted 20 September 2015 As long as our lads dont start doing stuff like these two idiots http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/9970264/florian-thauvin-follows-chancel-mbemba-by-turning-up-to-newcastle-game-in-tuxedo I think we are in good shape, rdl does seem to get turned to easily though
fuchsntf Posted 20 September 2015 Posted 20 September 2015 Defenders only let in goals. Dont bother I say.
st albans fox Posted 20 September 2015 Posted 20 September 2015 Not defenders but Walters clearly showed he would have been an asset to us and sako is looking a decent left sided option.
cityfanlee23 Posted 20 September 2015 Posted 20 September 2015 Not defenders but Walters clearly showed he would have been an asset to us and sako is looking a decent left sided option. Would not want walters personally, Corr sako would cost us atleast 7-10m now
Kitchandro Posted 20 September 2015 Posted 20 September 2015 I can't help but feel a lot of our threat in scoring comes from our sometimes risky play. If you take out De Laet and Schlupp and replace them with steady full backs I'm pretty certain we will lose something. So play two wing backs and drop De Laet for Albrighton. Sure up defence with an extra centre back.

UPinCarolina Posted 20 September 2015 Posted 20 September 2015 Whoever said earlier that the real change needs to come in the approach to the game was on to something. We cannot afford to start out slow and turn it on in the second half. Better sides than Stoke and Villa will capitalize on that. Can't be trying to come back from 2 goal deficits each week.
4ever and ever Posted 20 September 2015 Posted 20 September 2015 We didn't start slowly yesterday. In actual fact we started very well and were controlling the game. Regardless of formations yesterday's problems came from 3 errors. 1. De laet far to close to arnoutavic and got turned far too easily a la Falcao last season. 2. Huth allowing the ball to drop for the second goal and 3. The worst of the lot Morgan thinking he was Di canio trying to do a back pass. We could have been playing 6 at the back and it would have happened. The reason I believe this season we haven't looked as solid is that huth has not been as commanding as he was last season. Second half yesterday he was back to his imperious best. Right back is the big issue and I hope we sign a good one in January.
MPH Posted 20 September 2015 Posted 20 September 2015 In true Barry fry fashion, I don't care how many goals we concede just as long as we score more.
cc_star Posted 20 September 2015 Posted 20 September 2015 It's the system! We could play RDL Huth Morgan Albrighton - - - - - - - - - Schlupp Or Wasyl Huth Morgan Albrighton - - - - - - - - Schlupp And benefit from an extra man at the back when we flood forward on the counter We're still letting midfield runners through, we need to play Kante just in front of the defence, he's a right Lennon/Makalele and that will help We're also pretty poor at holding the ball up to allow attacks to build, rather than just using the rather blunt instrument of raw pace, Ulloa starting will help there too In short, the defenders aren't the problem. It's all down to the management. Of course, starting with scum Simpson at RB and someone like Konch at LB in a flat back four will probably see us more organised at the back, but we'll concede to pace and we'll also lose out on pacey counters ourself
themotivator Posted 20 September 2015 Posted 20 September 2015 Its been obvious for a while that we can't get by with just RDL as our go to right back. NP knew that and thought Simpson was the answer. For various reasons he clearly wasn't the answer and we still need another RB. Hopefully one that's really good and isn't a complete ****.I like the 3 at the back with Albrighton and Schlupp as wingbacks, but It really wouldn't hurt the squad to add another option for when we want to play 4-4-2.*crosses fingers*
Heymister2015 Posted 21 September 2015 Posted 21 September 2015 Break the bank for Byram and Carillo on a pre contract! Also like Austin and vardy to be paired together!
RichMC24 Posted 21 September 2015 Posted 21 September 2015 This thread makes me sad. You're all insane.
filbertstreet Posted 21 September 2015 Posted 21 September 2015 Apparently our Claudio was the guy who spotted Martial: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/465983/Leicester-boss-Man-United-signing-Anthony-Martial-could-smell-goals-age-16
Dan Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 Definitely need a right back. I appreciate the system doesn't help but De Laet just isn't quite imposing or intelligent enough to play as a full back in this league. In an attacking Championship side he's class but he needs a bit more than what he's got for me.
Vardinhio Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 For all you guys saying we are slow in defence how often are we actually cut to peices in central defence due to pace? As far as this season goes, not the West Ham goal, not the Bournemouth goal, not the Stoke goals, not the Villa goals. Can't recall the Spurs and Sunderland goals off the top of my head. As some have pointed out playing a 442 it is likely we will concede. I think we either need to stick another CB in and play 3 in the middle or continue how we are and look to dominate games by getting earlier goals. Very harsh to call out any individual performances this season, I think our defence has generally been pretty steady.

Very harsh to call out any individual performances this season, I think our defence has generally been pretty steady. Defensive errors lead to goals at this level. Sunderlands second was poor, villa's first was from a corner that was badly dealt with (they should have been 1 up via Huth's error early on), Bournemouth first was poorly defended in allowing the one two on the the edge of our box. Spurs goal - five defenders chasing the ball from close to the centre circle and all ball watching throughout the move. Stoke's first - no one tracks the runner and RDL misses two opportunities to take a yellow. the second ........ My point being that the defence is clearly culpable this season. cut out the errors, be more savvy, we will concede less.

He left the ball which put some more space between it and their striker and it gave Morgan some extra time to deal with it, yet he messed up. Ok, Huth could have just cleared it himself but then if we're going to start doing that then Huth's going to be steaming in front of Morgan at every opportunity as he can't be trusted? Morgan has been decent for us this season bar Saturday's mistake, it happens and hopefully he'll move on. But it was not Huth's fault, it was Morgan fannying about, had he dealt with it properly he was given some time to control the ball and start a passing move, wehere as if Huth had just cleared it it would have gone straight back to Stoke anyway.
Bayfox Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 Clean sheets are over rated. Mind you if he told the players they could fly to rome for pizza on the owners jet they may take more notice.
Countryfox Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 I think this is an area that CR should be closely looking at as for whatever the reason we are leaking too many goals. RDeL seems to come in for some stick and yes he has been caught out a few times but overall he is, IMO a good player and helps/covers for Mahrez. Our 2 CB's are very solid but I think it would still be a good idea to get another quality one in place .... cover for the other 2 or a third for 3 at the back gives us more options. And i think there are some quality players around in England if we can get them.
Loggy88 Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 Don't think we need to buy a centre back, I know we have let quite a few in but bar Wes's mistake on Saturday, individually they have looked decent, I think collectively they could Improve. But they can improve together. Huth and Morgan together on their best are a very good partnership.

I agree they are solid but I'm not sure if they can improve much ... they have been plying their trade a while now .... I still think new young blood is required as we are leaking a few at the moment (so something needs looking at !) ...
