americanfox Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 Dyer and Knocky should never have left. Dyer would of offered something last season and Knocky was have been great to have on the bench this season or even starting. The Dyer that hasn't played at all for Watford this season and was loaned within the Championship last year? Lloyd Dyer was a very good player for us and made many contributions, but he's nowhere near a Premier League player.

EnglishOxide Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 Knocky wouldn't even make the bench of this team. Simple as. Sure, he might have improved with game time in the Prem but that's not the route we took. It's up to him to show how good he really is at Leige.
FoxonMaui Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 I think it is a bit unfair to write off Knocky as not being PL quality. Clearly he struggled to make the step up, but so did virtually every City player for 3/4 of last season. Yes he lacked a bit of pace and he did hang onto the ball too long at times. Yet despite these things he had something special and he loved this club and played his heart out when he was here. I cannot help feeling sad he did not get to be around this season. I think Ranieri would have improved him just like he has so many of our squad this year. In my opinion pace was not his problem, he just needed to relax and be himself. I remember seeing him come on as a sub a few weeks before we turned things around and he fought for every ball and gave a good account of himself but seemed to be playing scared. I feel Pearson regarded his flair as a liability and basically was forcing a round peg into a square hole. Remember he did that to Mahrez to the point he was not playing him regularity during the worst part of last season. Ranieri was smart enough to quickly see that Mahrez was a special player and that he needed to build his team to allow Mahrez to express himself, whilst still working on his defensive contribution. Knocky missed out on that kind of help and if he had stayed I think we would have seen Knocky flourish and he would have been an integral part of the squad this year, perhaps replacing Mahrez in games when we are two or three goals up and getting the opportunity to show us his "flair" too. We should not compare him to Mahrez, it is not fair to him. Mahrez is perhaps the greatest talent we have had in 50 years and someone who will surely go on to play at the very highest level!! Albrighton is not in Mahrez's league but he has made an enormous contribution this year, and so why not Knocky. We should also not forget that when Mahrez arrived at Leicester, that it was Knocky from all reports who unselfishly took him under his wing and helped him settle in and acted as his interpreter a lot of the time. I wish he was still with the club and perhaps we will never know what actually happened towards the end of last season between him and Pearson. Remember his father was seriously ill and that may have influenced his decision to not resign. I bet he is watching us now and possibly regretting the decision he made.
