Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 I'm with you mate ! I also think Frank Worthington might be worth getting back ..... or Keith Weller. And just like you I don't like dwelling in the past. Presumably you know that comparing a 24-year-old current professional footballer with a man who has been dead for over 10 years and a 67-year-old who retired over 25 years ago makes YOU look stupid, not the OP? Clearly it's more reasonable to suggest signing Knockaert than Frank Worthington or Keith Weller. The fact that they have being "in the past" in common isn't massively relevant is it.
Dr The Singh Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 We will never really know, but he isn't really setting the world alight where he is!!!

Marshall For England ? .... this season ?
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 Marshall For England ? .... this season ? What you on about?
Father Ted Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 After watching years of utter dross from wingmen such as Josh Low, Gabor Bori, Shaun Newton.. the list goes on, he was a breath of fresh air. I remember him coming on away at Blackburn (might have been his debut) and he completely turned the game on its head. I still maintain that had he not bulked up so much as stayed the skinny little runt he was when he joined us that he would have been so much more effective. Waghorn Syndrome.
LanguedocFox Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 I'll always be grateful for his winning goal against Florist at the City Ground in 2013. Fvck me, we'd waited a long time for that, and although the play-offs didn't work out, he still made a major contribution to the following season. Don't know if he would fit in now, but he will always be a hero to me.
Koke Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 Nah he isn't good enough. I liked Tony but Mahrez is superior to him and look how Mahrez struggled as a no. 10 behind Vardy. Tony would be completely lost. The amount of times he would keep his head down and run straight imto defenders were annoying. Mahrez upped his game and improved drastically, though I always felt Mahrez was more talented than Knockaert anyway.
My Nads Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 I cant be the only one who has thought recently how good Knockaert would of been in this team behind Vardy this season, I dont like dwelling on the past but even thinking about the team with him in it on paper so much creativity, do you think it would of been a success? :xmasdry: ...Nice try Tony! Showing flashes of skill every dozen games doesn't make someone a good player. Nige got rid for good reason.
Dr The Singh Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 :xmasdry: ...Nice try Tony! Showing flashes of skill every dozen games doesn't make someone a good player. Nige got rid for good reason. I agree, his record at leige isn't great, but for the record, we apparently offered him a 4 year deal and he turned it down
richardsfoxes Posted 22 December 2015 Author Posted 22 December 2015 I think people on this forum forget easily, I remember a few threads last season about Morgan and Drinky claiming they we're not good enough, now look at them, experience and confidence is everything I think Knockaert could of been an extremely influential player in this team, thats just my opinion your entitled to yours but i disagree with people claiming Knockaert was not good enough when he wasn't given a real chance to show it.

RedSoxUK Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 Would rather have Albrighton and Mahrez playing any day of the week. We made the right call.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 I loved him, he was fantastic for us in the Championship - anyone that says otherwise has either a short memory or an irrational dislike of him - but we're a bracket above him now, unfortunately.
Guest Col city fan Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 He was too slow for the Prem. Skillful, tricky but sadly, just not quick enough.
wattolcfc Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 Let's be honest, people only liked him because we'd had to endure dross for a decade and was the first player with FLAIR we'd had for years. Not to mention most of his fans are 25 or younger, who never saw the last time we had a decent team under MON so he became their favourite. He was a decent Championship player but no more than that, just had that bit of excitement and skill about him that made him stand out.
Thracian Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 Knockaert didn't progress. He was a tricky player but nothing more. My lasting impression was of a guy forever running down blind alleys and often leaving all his trying-to-help team-mates out of position or wasting their efforts. Yes, he had his moments. Some of them marvellous ones. But where Mahrez (rather like Ronaldo under Ferguson) has turned raw talent into something consistently effective in terms of both goals and assists, Knockaert remained a pretender by comparison. I mentioned it many times and am quite sure the club did too, but he still went his own way.
dylanlegend Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 To me if we sell Mahrez, being back Knockaet. He's a poor mans Mahrez but still a game changer
Dan Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 I loved Knockaert but I'm not sure. He might have flourished but I don't think he's really got the pace to be effective in this side. He was a lot more creative than people gave him credit for though.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 He was ace for us don't know how anyome can knock him tbh. We have some of the best players we've ever had at the club atm but they wouldn't be here if it weren't for the likes of Knockaert, Lloydy, GTF et al
lgfualol Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 Nah, Ulloa is probably twice as fast as him and Okazaki stronger.
CharlieCharles Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 Dyer and Knocky should never have left. Dyer would of offered something last season and Knocky was have been great to have on the bench this season or even starting.
BoyJones Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 Knocky had some great moments for us, Huddersfield away, Wednesday, forest, Watford away in the championship winning season, but he did lack that yard of pace and his decision making needed work. We will perhaps never know if he could have developed into a premier league player, but whilst he is plying his trade in one of the poorer national premier leagues, he seems to me to have accepted himself he may not be good enough. None of the top 44 English teams came in for him - surely if he had something extra somebody would have taken him on? Grateful for what he did for us, but he wasn't quite good enough at the top level.
