Collymore Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Dariusz 'Jackie' Dziekanowski? Apparently he played a for Bristol City after playing for Celtic. He played a blinder against us and was outstanding in the early 90s. Don't know if it was home or away but there is no evidence of him on YouTube, he was a cult hero. Just looking for memories of him (especially that match) as Celtic mate mentioned the Leicester game as one of his best performances and wanted a description of him in the game if anyone remembers...?
HighPeakFox Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 FA Cup 4th round at Filbert Street, 1992. He bossed the whole match and was a total pain in the arse!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Up front with Junior Bent. We made them look like Pele and Maradona that day. I assume they weren't that good every week seeing as they never did anything else of note.
newparker76 Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Remember the game well. Freezing afternoon, Filbert Street pitch only just passed playable, and afterwards we wished it had been postponed. Dziekanowski played as a deep lying striker, ran the game. Involved in their first and scored their second when Muggleton went walkabout in his area. Looked a class above in an ordinary Bristol City team who were struggling near the bottom of the league. Watching them that day you wondered how. Then it was shown again on Match of the Day that night, in the days when Leicester were NEVER shown.....
Gary Eatfood Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 IIRC Bristol City went to Forest in the 5th Round and were stuffed 4-0 or 4-1.
ceredigion Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 I was at the game and remember it. He played well that day. Maybe we should have signed him. In the previous round we'd beaten Crystal Palace at home (they were Div 1 at the time and we were Div 2) and it was our first win in the Cup for about 7 years. Richard Smith scored the winner in injury time and it was on MOTD. Brian Little breathing new life into the club. Great days.
Kilworthfox Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Yeah 1992, totally destroyed us. 1 v 2 if I remember correctly. He got both. I was only 9 and it's the first proper cup game I recall. He's the reason I never expect us to do well in The fa cup
