davieG Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 Assistant referees should start acting like proper assistants too often they're just content to settle for deciding throw ins and corners. Also the 4th official should be more involved and let some one less qualified, maybe a local ref do the time keeping and subs they could easily look out for off the ball incidents. At the moment these 3 officials are seriously under used.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 A second referee system should be introduced, exactly like the one in rugby, with video footage of any uncertain events.
STUHILL Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 A second referee system should be introduced, exactly like the one in rugby, with video footage of any uncertain events. Very difficult to do without rugby type delays in the game but would be the only way to drastically improve accuracy of decisions. I could see a system where the ref asks for a video decision though on things like the Vardy pen/dive claim. Not sure the football world would accept having those type delays though. Realistically, they are only likely to try improve the ref's training and having clearer rules and less grey areas for things like handball and dives and yellow cards etc
Larry_LCFC Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 Let a load of 11 year olds officiate the game. Cant do any worse.
ErNanna Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 The issue has arisen again in the post match thread of Refereeing inconsistencies affecting the outcome of football matches. Red cards are issued like confetti. One ref will give something, another won't etc. This of course leads to huge debate post match. What would you do? Video evidence? Sin bins? Referees giving explanations of their decisions? Opinions please..... Good idea!
The Doctor Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 It sometimes takes two or three replays before I've decided for sure what happened, I give the refs abuse sometimes but honestly, it's a thankless job. I really don't think Oliver had a terrible game, he wasn't biased and a lot of those decisions were tough. People calling for Rooney to be sent off should take a look at his first booking, which was harsh IMO. It's swings and roundabouts, we've not done bad this season really. In the other hand though he should have been booked for kicking ulloas leg from under him, so swings and roundabouts.
Countryfox Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 Main ref to be in a studio with a team of video experts relaying decisions to a muppet on the field. I'd do this in a heartbeat ..... I'm just sick to the back teeth of the cheating that permeates our game ... Add to that the incidents that don't get spotted and the bad decisions and it will soon be a farce. The inconsistency is the icing on the whole rotten cake.
