SpideyDreamerMUFC Posted 3 May 2016 Author Posted 3 May 2016 Hey guys I added an extra bit to the post to address the dangers of people patronising your achievement and undermining your rightful place as champions. You will see it is you click my link the the OP. Here is it: "Finishing this blog entry I wish to emphatically state that Leicester are NOT to be patronised. This is not some magical cup-run, or a one-off freak match, this is a team that DOMINATED the top-tier of English football throughout the whole season. They have been consistently on top since the beginnin; they have beaten all of their rivals situated near them in the table; and they have been extremely dangerous topped off with the finishing psychological touches of resilience, tenacity, and team spirit. Leicester are as worthy champions as any of the previous ones to me. They played like champions throughout and handled every obstacle with the class and elegance that their manager personifies. I do not subscribe to the echoes radiating around all areas of football related discourse that this is a "freak" - 38 games can not be a freak. All the congratulations that are being offered from all clubs around the world are nice to see, but there is a danger of discrediting Leicester based on pre-conceptions. Make no mistake, Leicester are a force - they are the CHAMPIONS on merit. I expect the well-wishing from other club's to subside as they solidify their rightful place on top - and that is a compliment to them." You are merited champions indeed. I would probably be getting pissed off from the incessant well-wishing by now! Trust me, I will be fearing you guys next season. Take care and thanks for the compliments.
laceyb86 Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 I must agree nice article. Cheers to the team. Hope we can still do it next time.
SpideyDreamerMUFC Posted 3 May 2016 Author Posted 3 May 2016 Thanks guys, actually added some more on Ranieri as I totally forgot in my original post! added: "Just when you think this could not get any better as the superlative symbol for the underdog sweeping the giants aside, we have to mention the context of Claudio Ranieri. Claudio Ranieri was unfairly sacrificed by the newly purchased Chelsea to make way for a manager more "worthy" of the new funds and grandiose intentions of dominance; it was the ultimate patronising act. Twelve years later the demeaned Claudio Ranieri would visit his old club, and reigning champions, Chelsea, managed by the guy that was deemed more worthy of Roman Abramovich's play fund, José Mourinho. Mourinho was everything Ranieri wasn't: brash, arrogant, marketable, and provocative. He epitomised everything that the new Chelsea were pushing towards—ruthless unrelenting success, eminent prestige, and a pivot into European formidability. Ranieri was to be pushed aside and patted on the back as the departed pleasant "granddad" while Chelsea demanded vigour and zeal. Twelve years on Ranieri would return with a squad that is almost £200m cheaper, defeat them on their own turf 2-1, and send Mourinho packing back into the job market. Wow." I think that is one of the best things about this season, Ranieri giving a big **** YOU to Roman. What a superbly written article, better than most our national 'hacks' have put together.I remember, only too well, the devastation of not managing to win 'that' game at Stoke, and seeing our beloved team spiralling down into the leagues lower reaches for the first time ever.Last night, two days short of eight years later, we were celebrating seeing 'our Leicester' crowned champions of England. It really still feels totally surreal ! Haha thanks man, I am just tired of the patronising that is going on. You guys have won the bloody league convincingly for Christ sakes. It indeed is surreal, but it was very much deserved. 38 games can not be a fluke. And you have been top all year. I think we will be seeing you at the shield, and unless LVG is gone I think Mahrez and Vardy's dynamism will be a big problem for us to deal with. Still, I like the emerging home-grown youngsters at United - but I can't pretend to overlook the fact we have spent more in two years than you guys have in your history... that is just difficult to comprehend. When is the Ranieri statue going up?

SpideyDreamerMUFC Posted 3 May 2016 Author Posted 3 May 2016 BTW more Leicester patronising on TalkShite today... the discussion is whether you can keep your players. REALLY?! You just won the league in a tv-money dominated 2016... they are acting like you finished 4th like Ipswich all those years ago. Why would the Leicester players want to leave that amazing unity and spirit that has been established there? The celebrations at Vardy's house epitomised everything. I think they will be staying put.
Mark l Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 Congratulations Leicester. Absolutely brilliant. Mark (afc Wimbledon season ticket holder)
SpideyDreamerMUFC Posted 3 May 2016 Author Posted 3 May 2016 Congratulations Leicester. Absolutely brilliant. Mark (afc Wimbledon season ticket holder) One of the first games I remember was when you guys (the real Wimbledon, not MK Dons) beat us in the FA Cup. I was seven and almost in tears haha.
Mark l Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 Thank you for the Wimbledon / m k comment. Hate them with a passion. I remember the league cup semi :-( !!! Ours to get to the league in 9 years was great but Your achievement is the greatest ever I believe

Ours to get to the league in 9 years was great but Your achievement is the greatest ever I believe MK Dons epitomise everything wrong with football now. No regard for fans or communities. Hope to see Wimbledon back some day tbh.

SpideyDreamerMUFC Posted 4 May 2016 Author Posted 4 May 2016 Hey again guys, just stumbled upon this article and wanted your thoughts on it: http://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2016/05/leicester-citys-premier-league-victory-is-the-worst-thing-to-have-happened-to-football/ Absolute peace of shit I believe. It's pretty much the antithesis to my article in which I argued how your title win is a great thing to happen to not only football but society too. This guy considers it a detriment!? He compares this to the Blackburn team of the mid-90s that broke the script, and how their fall was from the 'pernicious' factor of expecting success.... how can Leicester and Blackburn be compared?! They were a team that won as a result of HUGE investments from a sugar daddy, so of course expectations remained high afterwards. I think Leicester and Ranieri are just happy to be building towards a solid foundation for PL longevity. To suggest that there will immediately be a pressure for success is ridiculous and totally incomparable to Blackburn Rovers. Always one willy puller journo out there.
