Hull's Pork Recordings were legends and Steve Cobby and David McSherry aka Fila Brazillia's "a Z and 2 L's" one of my favourite 'chill' tracks of all time.

John Barry 007 atmosphere v Grantby

First heard it off a good compilation/mix by Patrick Forge caled Chillout Fourever which is worth a look

Not trip hop (detriot techno legend Mad Mike of Underground Resistance) but Iove this track and the space video reminded me of it...

This is amazing ;)

glad you like it, got it on vinyl still. Has a very Portishead sound as i think it features their guitarist and dj (Andy Smith)

Speaking of Portishead dj Andy Smith he did one of my favourite Essential Mixes (I haven't listened to them all) hip/trop hop/funk/soundtracks mashup. Esp. Love the Lalo Schifren Scorpio's theme mix.

The Tom Jones song on the document 1 is a monster of a tune!

As you can probably tell from my icon I was well into this genre back in the day. Mo'wax, Ninja Tune etc artists such as Tricky, Massive Attack, DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, Coldcut, UNKLE etc Although after the not so recent kickstarter fiasco James Lavelle wont be getting any of my money for a while!

I see someone has already mentioned Grand Central records, for the more pop side of the genre Northern Sulphuric Soul by Rae and Chrisitan is a classic.
