lancyclaret Posted 20 June 2016 Share Posted 20 June 2016 Every day Manchester United are linked with big, expensive signings like Ibrahimovich.....Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool likewise. Are Leicester becoming one of these clubs linked every day with players like Deeney commanding huge fees. I know we have been out of the PL for 12 months, but I thought clubs could only have 25 players in their squads....a lot of these players are not going to join new clubs unless guaranteed a decent amount of football. A case in point is Kieran Trippier.....a brilliant right-back who was one of Burnley's top players (best or second best) for three seasons. He was a PL ever-present (38 games) in 2014/15 but joins Spurs last summer and plays just a handful of games as understudy to Kyle Walker. Trippier loves his football, not as money-motivated as most players, so cannot be happy about lack of game time. If Leicester sign the likes of Deeney, someone who contributed to your title success is going to miss out.
Moksky Posted 20 June 2016 Share Posted 20 June 2016 Its called evolution and its happens ............you need to evolve, players, tactics etc. to progress. nothing last forever (apart from our title win) and even if its just a tweak here and there , you can not stand still and stagnate We are far from the likes from Man City, Chelsea etc but if you havent noticed the PL clubs all have more money, so fees are being inflated As for Trippier , who wouldnt he join Spurs from Burnley who had just been relegated at that point, he will fight for a spot if he loves football, that just the way it works
volpeazzurro Posted 20 June 2016 Share Posted 20 June 2016 Burnley too will have to do a bit of shopping also if they are to survive this year(which I hope you do by the way ). Prices for you will also be inflated, whatever market it's in, you also will be linked to many players which in turn will have an effect on the supporters of their clubs. If the journalists were to be believed we'd have a squad of 50 by now let alone Man Utd etc! An example in point being that we are currently being linked with Keane from yourselves, where did that come from, is it true, how does it make Burnley supporters feel towards the new big headed think they can buy anybody champions? It's cheap journalism pure and simple and nothing to do with us. Why would Dych need to sell his best centre half for a poxy €10 million when Burnley have just had a financial windfall and need to add to a decent team not dismantle it. You have to accept it's silly season created by agents and journalists in the main and just a pert of the game.
sylofox Posted 20 June 2016 Share Posted 20 June 2016 We gave up shopping at Aldi after winning the championship. One reason we are CL now and will have to pay more. Will Mr Dyche still be running to the reduced counter in Aldi for all his shopping?
Poznan34 Posted 20 June 2016 Share Posted 20 June 2016 Being linked with players doesn't necessarily mean they'll sign. Clubs are linked with hundreds of players a season but most sign <10.

Liverpool in the 80's and every Sir Alex Man Utd team added more quality every season after winning titles. You have to add more quality. We won the title with very few players. Next season we go again with Champions League and we want a good domestic cup run. Injuries, suspensions, tiredness and loss of form mean we need a bigger squad. Its a no brainer. Our owners have already said we will sign 5 or 6.
