Sky Q

I was out shopping today and got collared by a Sky sales rep who showed me the Sky Q box.  The offer was for a £60 one off fee we would get the Sky Q box and a mini box for another room.  The subscription was free for 18 months and then £12 thereafter.

Initial benefits that I can see are the 2TB memory and the ability to download content onto two tablets to watch wherever, whenever (I'm thinking of the kids in the car or something).

Does anyone have experience of Sky Q?  Is it a good deal?  Any problems?

Heard some good things but you've got to be a kind of tech savvy guy who uses the features, namely the "fluid viewing" thing which is basically streaming TV from the box to your tablet, mobile etc. using your WIFI. If you really only watch TV in a traditional way I wouldn't do it. Don't forget that BBC, C4, Sky Sports can all watch live TV through the iPlayer and Sky Go apps so a lot of the features are already available for free or a substantially lower cost.

My mate has got it and says its a great deal and you get more for less.  They want you to change and get rid of the multi room thing so they give you a big incentive to do it.   I rang them about it and it does sound better ...   my bill would reduce quite a bit.   I decided not to in the end though cus I have a pretty good 'set up' at the moment and don't want a sky engineer in the house ...

Had it a while now. Really like it. No problems at all.

Main plus for me is how small the boxes are. Also really quiet and you can't hear the hard disc rattling away like I could with my old 1tb box.

Cant wait for 4k football now.
