The Guvnor Posted 28 July 2016 Posted 28 July 2016 My first ever bike, well two wheels anyway was a Yammy FS1E then on to a Suzuki X7 250, too many near misses so didn't ride a bike for years then took my bike test in 1999 then had a CBR 600, R1, 929 Blade, then I went comfy and had a Honda Blackbird. Six years without a bike and I started to pine for one, started looking for a VFR, preference was for a 750 but a 800 pre v-tec was an option, anyway just bought a beautiful red VFR 750 FS, she is 21 years old but is in exceptional condition 17k FSH . I rode her home 105 miles to the South West with a massive VFR grin on my face. I shall fit a new stainless steel exhaust and get the rear shock refurbished, powder coat the rear sub-frame and she will be mint. Keep me busy over the winter. What bike do you have? anyone been touring abroad?
Daggers Posted 2 August 2016 Posted 2 August 2016 Used to ride off round Europe every summer but not done that for a few years now. Got it planned to hop across the water next summer mind. Currently ride an XT600E (bought this year) and an XJ900S (had for six years). Planning a winter of renovation for the XJ9, just fitted the BW exhaust the other week as the heavy old lump had rotted away. Come 2017 and I'll be adding a Harley back into the garage as I miss the old Ultra Classic. Give me bikes any day over cars

Been to Le mans twice on bikes once in 82 with two mates on a KH250 and a Suzi 380GT and in 2001 with my now wife on a CBR 600, great fun. I will be fitting a new SS exhaust to mine over the winter, apparently it's a pig of a job, good luck with the XJ9 restoration, keep safe.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 Ride a 1998 ZX-9R, great fun any distance and perfectly manageable (although February frost and cold tyres have almost had me off on several occasions). Have only ever toured once, rode my old ZX-6R down to northern Spain with a mate on his Firestorm - was a right laugh but hard work on the 400 mile stretches! If I had the money I'd really like a Speed Triple as I don't tend to ride flat out but I like a lot of torque, and they're great to look at

Was there sometime in the mid 80s, French guy in the next tent had a GS750 engine on a wooden sledge that spent all night, every night, being revved up. I'm still catching up on the missed sleep.
Countryfox Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 All round Europe on a Suzuki GT380 ... Big crash on Suzuki GS1000G (hospital) then a gap, then bought a Firestorm and then a Fireblade .... Big crash in Wales ... Gave up and called it a day. In my blood though ....
