Libertine Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 Obviously Adams had a better record and got us promoted etc, and I like him, but I'd take CL anyday of the week/month/year/decade/centrury/millenium. I think in the long-term CL will benefit us a lot more.
Sir JJ Wilcox Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 50/50 atleast this is a closer thread than lushs
Matt Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 They have and are probably pretty similar in terms of recent (i.e last season/this season) success, Micky stuck with us through thick and thin, administration, embargos, no money, Dennis Wise saga, fans turning on him, and La Manga was the final straw he needed a break from LCFC and we needed a break from him despite all that he got us promoted we may have got relegated straight away but c'mon who wasn't expecting or had the thought of relegation at the back of there mind? Fair enough with Micky was a team a season and they were all oldies and some bad transfers however I think Levein is doing just as well or bad whicheve way you look at it as Micky did and could, the only improvement since Micky Adams has left is the fact the squad if for the future and the squad is younger can't think of any other differences really. 50/50 I think - I have voted Micky Adams because I don't want to see Levien go because we need to start giving manager time, but I voted Micky Adams because when you look at want Micky had to go through whilst manager of LCFC he still got us promoted he stook with us untill he was basically pushed (by fans) and what improvment in league aspects have been improved under Levein As I said when we got promoted who can honestly say relegation wasn't at the back of there minds? We got relegated and the season we got relegated you can look through my threads during that summer and I said "we are now just an average division 1 side" and look whats happened? I ain't gloating I predicted right because i'd love to be top of division 1 or premiership right now but its the truth we are now just an average divsion 1 side after this season we will have not much money (Due to losing parachute payments, e.t.c.) and personally can't see a way out or a way forward in the near future!!

Very good points there Matt to be fair.
FNQ Posted 28 September 2005 Author Posted 28 September 2005 Coventry City go above Leicester with 3-1 home win against high flying Watford.
FNQ Posted 28 September 2005 Author Posted 28 September 2005 http://iccoventry.icnetwork.co.uk/0300cove...-name_page.html Classic. Did anyone see this at the time?
Hullfox Posted 29 September 2005 Posted 29 September 2005 I never liked Adams. I did but he's gone, and that's that. I can't understand how people expect things to turn around in certain timescales. Yes he's been here a year. No, personally I don't think that we're any better off as a club for what he's done. But the bloke needs more time, the players need more time. I am sure the club is evolving and he's building on the foundations that he believes are right. I liked Mickey, I don't particularly like CL. I voted CL.
willy37 Posted 29 September 2005 Posted 29 September 2005 i think adams showed he cared more about the club. whenever things went wrong he would say so, and also take the blame himslelf. unlike cl who every week seems to praise the oppositions goalkeeper.

FNQ Posted 29 September 2005 Author Posted 29 September 2005 I never liked Adams. I'm sure - even when we were winning every week?
The People's Hero Posted 29 September 2005 Posted 29 September 2005 I'd like to see this as a boxing match. Micky Adams vs Craig Levein. MA could also commentate, talking about himself in the third person of course, whilst CL would see out the rounds for a nil nil.

The People's Hero Posted 29 September 2005 Posted 29 September 2005 Of course the bout would be won by Micky Adams, who although always vulnerable to conceding late points was up against a boxer who always thought that one point was enough.
AyewJoking Posted 29 September 2005 Posted 29 September 2005 We had good times under Micky and we have had none with Levein unless you count last seasons venture into the quarter finals (possibly) of the FA cup. However things turned stale under Adams' reign and he had to go. We would probably be looking at a bleaker future if Micky was still in charge and though Levein is sh it, there is still an ever decreasing glimmer of hope.
Matt Posted 29 September 2005 Posted 29 September 2005 Thing that makes me laugh and this has been pretty much the link with every manger since we had MON is as soon as we have or get a new manager the first thing you hear about there or read on messageboards about the new manager is "He's the new MON" - I remember reading it when Micky Adams took over and I remember coming on here the night Craig Levein was appointed and I read the same things... What happened 2 1/2 seasons later with MA - Fans got rid of him - forced him out 1 season (1 full year) under CL - Fans a out calling for him to resign/slaggin him off e.t.c Yeah really like MON ain't they!

Blue Arrow Posted 29 September 2005 Posted 29 September 2005 Adams stuck by us but Levein is building a suad for the future and getting better contracts for long term etc. so right now it would velein - i say give him till christmas- 25th dec -->2006<-- that is
TAFKA Castroneves Posted 30 September 2005 Posted 30 September 2005 Difficult to choose between either, they both have done different things which have aided our club. Levein has stabalised us, Adams took us places while stretching the budget a tad - and with more older players -also. It honestly depends, it's harder and longer time-wise to take a young team up than use experience. I personally can't call it.
Guest Posted 30 September 2005 Posted 30 September 2005 I'm sure - even when we were winning every week? Yip. The bloke lacks charm and charisma, and I found him tactically inept. During the promotion season, we got off to a flyer, but towards the end our form dipped, don't you remember how tight things were at the top of the table? The more influence Adams had on the side, the less confidence I had. By the way, we weren't winning every week, if we had, then we would have been promoted as Champions.
