Take the job Shakespeare, and bring Nige back.

Absolute hero.

Now that would be funny if nothing else.

I'm in.

CS has done a great job so far, basically down to him going back to the old tried and tested methods used by NP and CS.

I wouldn't appoint him for next season yet though. It's a completely different job being the manager,  and there will have been several situations that he is yet to deal with in the new role.

I am not saying he can't do it, just saying it's a different set of circumstances creating a short term fix, to a long term one where there are several obstacles to overcome.

My hesitancy is in his age. I am wondering why he wouldn't have pushed himself to a higher position much earlier if he had the genuine desire and belief in himself to succeed at it.

Financially the rewards are with the top job, and so he has preferred in the past to stay in his comfort zone of assistant manager, rather than push himself that would get him greater rewards.

What happens when when things go wrong and it's all on his shoulders, will he be able to cope, when clearly over the years he has not pushed himself to be in the number one position.

Its working at the moment as the players clearly wanted to go back to the old ways, but I am unsure if CS will be able to deal with the job when he faces the different challenges that he has previously not been responsible for dealing with.

I don't think your post will be popular but I agree with you.

Managing isn't necessarily a meritocracy, the best managers may be coaching at Rochdale or unemployed as they never got a chance to manage. Shaky may well be a hidden gem but he might also not be and in the right place at the right time.

He's done brilliant so far and without taking anything away from him his tactic has been to go back to what previously worked. If I was going to employ him I'd want to know his vision for the future in playing style and who he wants in and out next season. It's easy to keep things ticking over short term but what sort of team does he see us being in a couple of years from now, does he have a plan and a vision? As I said I'm not taking anything away from him but he needs to be able to answer about what happens next once the honeymoon period has gone.

Ideally I'd love him to be offered the No2 role long term and a big bonus if he keeps us up and we progress in the Champions League. I guess that would all depend if he feels the No2 role is dead for him now and it's all or nothing which I couldn't blame him.

Whether you love Pearson or you hate him, the foundations for our success over the past, well, even 5 years, were laid by him. That is not disputable.

Hodgson and his agent said he was interested in talking if the club was keen to talk to him, whilst Hiddink recently said he didn't want job after apparent initial talks due to the way Ranieri was sacked.

Also, Michael O'Neill was quoted by some paper as saying he would have find it hard to turn down such an opportunity should the club had held any discussions with him.

I was also in talks to be the next manager, so it was quite extensive

Nigel Pearson is a top top bloke, it really is a shame how he's perceived by the media and some of our fans. One of the first people to visit the Birch in hospital, now showing some great support to his mate which must be hard considering he's taking his old job.

Finished the sentence for you.
