Voll Blau Posted 16 January 2019 Posted 16 January 2019 Stumbled across this map (think it's from a couple of years ago) showing the nearest football club to everyone in the top five divisions of England and Wales, and thought it interesting enough to share. According to the table accompanying it, we'd have the third most potential supporters in the top flight if everyone followed the rule, and Forest would have the least in the whole country... https://fusiontables.google.com/DataSource?docid=1kbfJuQbAYLo8tu1yMFenesVl9Xkem_AnU85qwver#map:id=4
steveherbe Posted 16 January 2019 Posted 16 January 2019 And I'd be a born again Saints fan, Tom would be a recent member of Eddie Howes Barmy Army - no thanks, I'll pass on that idea
Dan Posted 16 January 2019 Posted 16 January 2019 Brighton actually have some potential as a fanbase. Quite rich area as well.

Obviously all this is just as the crow flies so doesn't take into account stuff like county borders and regional allegiances, transport links and ease of access to local clubs, size of clubs etc, but some really do have massive catchment areas that you wouldn't think of. Excepting Hinckley, North-West Leics and North Northants/Warwickshire being left out, Leicester's is roughly as you'd expect on that map.
Nalis Posted 16 January 2019 Posted 16 January 2019 A Palace fan I knew a few years ago boasted they have the biggest catchment area re: potential fans geographically. Must send him this, he'll love that Brighton are no 1, of all teams haha
