Sheehan?

I think our best defence is:

Maybury-----Dublin-----Johansson-----Sheehan

I agree with that.

Don't agree the central pairing are far to slow, CL has always stated he wants a mobile back four so we can play further up the pitch - no way can you do it with those 2, It has to be Dublin or Nissa with McCarthy or Gerrbrand or McCarthy & Gerrbrand.

Sound point. Probably a good opportunity to play McCarthy and Gerrbrand at Cardiff.

The problem is whenever a youngster comes in and only plays a few games everyone is eager to see them again and can't understand why they aren't given more chances. Personally I would like to see Sheehan more and we will do but he is still very young and obviously Levein doesn't feel he is ready yet to be regularly.

Thracian you talk about the fans all wanting Sheehan as their first choice left back but we've only seen him play 3 first team games and although he did relatively well in those games it would be a little ludicrous to use a fans poll as gospel that Sheehan is the best left back at the club. What needs to happen is that Levein treats every player on merit and if Sheehan keeps doing the business in the reserves then Levein rewards him with first team recognition. Especially when the other left backs aren't playing well.

I personally thought Nils was good going forward against Coventry, even though it doesn't come naturally to him. Sheehan's distribution in the games i've seen him is poor and that could cost us goals, Levein will be working on Sheehan's game and getting him ready for the first team. Youngsters have to be almost flawless in their performances to stay in the first team just like Stearman was last season and the start of this season. If you only play averagely then the more established players will always be favoured, I know it stinks but that's what happens in football.

They've only seen him play three first team games cos that's the only chance he's had. Two wins out of two in the matches I watched. Then there's the reserves. He's the rock in the reserves defence - whether at full back or at sweeper. He's the organiser the creator breaking forward, the guy who takes all the free-kicks and a huge chunk of responsibility.

Nils didn't play badly on Saturday but the last two goals we've conceded were sourced through the left back area Nils was patrolling and it might have been three with the one at Watford which Dion cleared. He's too slow-turning to be a left-back and doesn't have a fraction of Sheehan's offensive capabilities.

The fans poll might have been based on limited evidence but it was pretty emphatic. How good must a player be to command that much support from so little exposure?. Far too good for City to risk losing in my view.

Like I've said once before - to me he's got so many of the qualities which made Denis Irwin a legend.

I don't like Nils at left back and it pains me to see Sheehan not in the line-up, I would like to have a chat with Levein about Sheehan and why he's not in the first team. As you say he's played 3 times and not been on the losing team once, whether that's down to him or not is another question but he impresses me. I'm not sure why we are having this argument, i'm with you on this one the only objection i'd have is that Sheehan is more accomplished than Stearman.

Both are massive prospects as are Wesolowski and Chambers, none of them are the finished article but what's amazing to see is none of them would ever let the team down even at their age. Hat's off to Levein for bringing them through, it makes me think there might be one or two more hidden in there who could do a job if called upon. As you've said we have enough players in this squad to not need to play players out of position and it's unfair on the players who miss out such as Sheehan.

In truth I think Stearman and Sheehan are different types of players who somehow manage to have a huge effect on play because of their involvement and attacking capabilities.

Action Man and Joe Cool it seems to me but forever in the game one way or another. At the moment both are like just cut diamonds waiting to be polished.

As we establish a safe place in the League perhaps, just perhaps, Levein will have the confidence to play em both and our team will be one more step towards something really worth watching.

Does Sheehan have a twin?

I could swear that I saw some kid looking just like Sheehan outside the post office on Welford Road today.

He was working as a delivery boy or something... :P
