broughtonblue Posted 9 August 2019 Posted 9 August 2019 2012/13 Knockheart/Deeney 😢 13/14 Championship winners 14/15 Great escape 15/16 Dreamland 16/17 Champions league Mmm Puel 🤔🥺 18/19 Tragedy  19/20 ?? A cup final or break into top 6 would look good to continue that list Â
David Guiza Posted 9 August 2019 Posted 9 August 2019 Hopefully an improvement at home against the lesser sides in the division, those Cardiff, Southampton, Newcastle etc games are fodder for when I can't get to sleep.  Fancy us to get a few scalps against the big sides and go well in the League Cup (providing we don't get Man City and suffer from a third round of Groundhog Day), but ultimately finish around 8th. I am a little worried at the expectations some of our fans have in respect of challenging the top 6, I would love for it to happen but it's far from likely and reaching the top 6 would not necessarily result in a bad season either. If we're not pushing around the top 6 come October/November I can see some on here and beyond throwing their toys out of the pram.Â
lgfualol Posted 9 August 2019 Posted 9 August 2019 Vardy and Rodgers will get in a scrap on the sidelines 2nd game and the season will fall apart before in record time.  Or 6th.
Raw Dykes Posted 9 August 2019 Posted 9 August 2019 I'm feeling pretty optimistic about this season. I think we've done some very clever business in the transfer window, but the main factor for me is the manager. Puel oversaw some great transfers in, such as Ricardo and Maddison, but I don't think it can be overstated how much he held us back on the pitch. He lacked the courage, or confidence in his team, to really attack the opposition when they were there to be got at. We often went a goal down in the first 15 mins and looked unfit. I don't think he was getting nearly enough out of the players at his disposal. Rodgers's record since he came in goes to show the team is plenty capable enough to challenge near the top of this division. Â The team has a better midfield and attack now, and with Rodgers, rather than Puel, in charge of the pre-season, we should be better prepared. There is a bit of uncertainty over our options at centre-half after the sale of Maguire, but I am looking forward to seeing what Soyuncu and Benkovic can do given a run of games. They won't improve by not playing. Â The teams around us also look better than before, but half of the big six have problems to deal with, and I don't think they will be so far out of reach this time around. I think a finish around 6th-8th would be a good season. I'd love a good cup run, as well. Maybe we're due a bit of luck with avoiding Man City early on this time. There is more depth to the squad now, and we have a lot of young players who have another season's experience under their belts. Â Exciting times for the club! Bring on Sunday.
