Kis Kis Kisnorbo Posted 29 October 2005 Posted 29 October 2005 when a player gets substituted they acknowledge their fans when they clap the player off. I dont no if he has not clapped before today but i noticed today he didnt clap or give the fans any recognition. He didnt have his best game to put it kindly and wonder whether the supporters getting on his back during the game was the reason for this. Any thoughts?
Gené and Tonic Posted 29 October 2005 Posted 29 October 2005 To be honest I don't think it is anything major. He was probably just knackered and forgot
Anish Posted 29 October 2005 Posted 29 October 2005 I don't think many fans (except myself! ) got on his back today. He had a shocker to be honest and Dublin looked so much better when he came on. Dublin actually flicked the ball on in the air, held the ball well, and played it simple (and quickly). De Vries was painfully slow, won hardly anything in the air, and didn't play the simple (and quick!!!) pass enough.
cisono Posted 29 October 2005 Posted 29 October 2005 De Vries was painfully slow, won hardly anything in the air, and didn't play the simple (and quick!!!) pass enough. I reckon his amstrings hadn't fully recovered ... or (probably subconsciously) was trying to avoid further problems with them.
Foxes_Wizard_Striker Posted 29 October 2005 Posted 29 October 2005 I reckon his amstrings hadn't fully recovered ... or (probably subconsciously) was trying to avoid further problems with them. What is the point of playing half fit player even if he is our top scorer???
Thracian Posted 29 October 2005 Posted 29 October 2005 What is the point of playing half fit player even if he is our top scorer??? Yes, peculiar that. Half fit giant MDV starts his third game in no time but half fit lightweight Smith gets left on the bench. Having said that I'd probably have played em both plus Hume and Hammond as well.

Having said that I'd probably have played em both plus Hume and Hammond as well. I'd have no problems with 4-2-4, - MDV, Hume, Hammond and Smith, especially at home, if he's going to/having to play two defensive midfielders. It'd be just like watching Brazil.

lush Posted 30 October 2005 Posted 30 October 2005 Every lump has its days, and de lumps have been against stoke, sheff wed, blackpool, watford and cov, hardly tuff defensies. I think de lump kinda sums up CL`s cautiousness. Meaning, even a bag of shit can score against average opposition, but when it comes to more tuffer teams, de lump gets stuck in the mud. Good strikers can score v anyone in this league.

I think the two are quite separate situations.

I like both players, but why do people only moan about De Vries when he is not scoring and forget about hammond and hume and sylla?

He's not going to score every time he plays. 8 goals! You're making yourself look an idiot by saying that he's rubbish.

He didn't get a full game at Cardiff so yesterday was his bad game. Next game he'll score
Mark Posted 30 October 2005 Posted 30 October 2005 De Vries didn't deserve to be clapped off yesterday in the first place, he was beyond shocking. That wasn't just a bad performance, it was a captains performance. A CAPTAIN is supposed to inspire the rest of the team. Not have his mind took off the game because of a feud with Claude Davis. What a pathetic excuse. We did absolutely nothing until Dublin was moved up front because of that. De Vries IS rubbish, but somehow he scores goals, it just leaves me confused.. First Tiatto is picked as captain, and now De Vries. Well I can't work it out.
lush Posted 30 October 2005 Posted 30 October 2005 Iain Hume has scored just 1 goal, so why does everyone rave about Hume, then moan about De Vries when he has scored 8. I like both players, but why do people only moan about De Vries when he is not scoring and forget about hammond and hume and sylla? Yes a strikers beef is scoring goals, and it is true de lump has the most, but faith in him to score more or do the other things our strikers need to do, doesnt fill one with optimism. His whole body language and link up play is very poor. I wouldnt be all that bothered if we were desperate, but were not, and Levein is trying to play a certain style which de lump doesnt fit. Hume and hammond have more skill, pace and natural ability. Hell even chambo is worth considering ahead of de lump. De lump is like benjamin with a brain cell. We pay alot of money to watch our team, dont know about you, but i wana be entertained with skill, pace and natural ability. Hume and hammond havnt had the chance to score more Ben, and de lump isnt the only one that can score. I hope so b&c. De lump was captain and he had a shocker, dreary me. I hate to say it, but CL behaves like a typical manager. Just when we get some good results going, he does the "manager thing" and promotes the unpromotable. Do managers think there some sort of godly like creature, that they can turn a lump into shearer by captaining them and craig is supposed to have a footballing brain. YOU HAVE TO EARN IT, AND BE RESPECTED WHILST WEARING THE ARMBAND. So far, twato, then the sent off maybury, now de lump. It`ll be joey next We have a problem huston
Thracian Posted 30 October 2005 Posted 30 October 2005 "De Lump is like Benjamin with a brain cell" ----- what a little classic.
Michael Doyle Posted 31 October 2005 Posted 31 October 2005 Hey Lush You keep going on about the manager and how bad he is so who would you prefer to be in this current cash less circumstance managing our team. (BTW - MON is not available) (unfortuanetly) Ta@#*r or ( I don't even want to type the morons name) Bassett or Adams ? CL didn't come to the club as the replacement for or the next MON with the pretence of being the best up and coming manager as Ta@#*r did. (You said it he bought brain cell less players...in my view who fitted the Mr Universe looks) and spent 27 Million quid on near SH1T. Bassett tried and failed to pick the pieces of a shattered playing squad, shattered club board, shattered off field staff and shattered support. Even the board knew he was not the man for the Job and that's why they put him up stairs and bought Adams in. (We have been stung once by an up and coming Manager lets not get stung again) This was never going to work until Bassets influence had gone. Adams legacy is La Magna. When you talk about earning respect, players on the squirt taking advantage of the good will of the club who sent tem to Spain in the first place. What a joke. So as I see it CL has a squad that he is now rebuilding after the efforts of the three previous managers have left the club with absolute no cash in the bank, experience and high salary's had to go through no fault of CLs. He is spending coppers instead of pounds on players because that's all he has. What he is trying to do is build for the future and not live for today. CL is the man for me as I see no better out there. If they came in we would go backwards as the new manager would be inheriting CL squad and until the new manager could claim the squad to be his own we would be in the same situation as we were a year ago. You may be right in your assesment of CL because it will only be time that will tell. My view is give him the time. If your not prepared to do that who would you rather? What are you views? MadMick
lush Posted 31 October 2005 Posted 31 October 2005 I want CL to be our manager. Against cardiff (league) we played (by all accounts) a very negative game, and lost to a team that at the time was approximately 5th bottom. Before that game, whatever bad performances had occured, i could accept due to the building of our team and squad. But from that game on, we have been too cautious in certain games, where we could play a more positive game. So far, graig has done reasonably well, particuly with signings, and i believe theres "something" happening, but whatever that something is, depends on what we do now, and people pay large sums of money to travel to cardiff and preston at tut weekend, they deserve BETTER, and we had better than what we started the game with. Successful managers dont play a cautious negative game/approach.

Elvis got the Cardiff game. Didn't Hume get the Coventry game? Whoever did, de Vries was the only one who scored. They've played more than enough football to score goals.

He'd say black was white, even if you had the results from an independent scientist whose speciality was colour.

The cov goalie produce a magnificent save to deny Hume.
