Ward - not much to do but saved brilliantly from Racic when called upon.

Justin - decent, no mistakes and kept things simple. Great assist for Kelechi to score from.

Morgan/Soyuncu - can't fault them and kept things simple as well. Would have been tested more if Brentford had a stronger attack.

Fuchs - quality. Read everything well and anticipated anything Brentford put to them.

Praet - what a ball for Justin to lead to the goal. Along with rest of the midfield didn't really have an impact after first half hour or so.

Choudhury - not much to say and helped shield the defence without anything special or any controversies.

Albrighton/Gray - both poor I think. Didn't really show that they still want a first team spot and could have imposed themselves in this kind of game more than they did. Some poor choices and poor decision making. Expected better from both.

Iheanacho - unlucky to be taken off but think Brendan just wanted to secure the win and also save him for Tuesday. Took the goal well and could have had a 2nd shortly after.

Perez - again could have had a goal but expected better. Could have been a bit more composed when attacking.

KDH - looked comfortable when in possession and kept things simple and composed when they were pressuring us.

Solid at the back, good to see Ward keep his concentration while not really being worked for much of the game. Justin looked good, Fuchs and Cags delivered as we expected. Morgan’s positioning is going, he scares me sometimes.

Praet drifted-couple of good touches but frustrating later. Gray has skills, but doesn’t understand football. He’s too old now to work out how and when to pass, he will continue to look great twice a season for the rest of his career. Choudhury played a useful role, but he’s untidy and I’d love him to cut some of the fouls out of his game. Free-kicks and cards can cost us... Albrighton was rusty-considering his crossing ability his passing was budget at times. Much prefer him on the left.

Perez was good, constantly available, harrying the defence, involved in most of what was good about us. Not flawless, but difficult to be with the errors going on around him. Kelechi was great, powerful, solid on the ball, and a constant threat.

Dewsbury-Hall did alright, was mostly tidy, though he had very little impact. Passes were largely sideways and backwards, and I think he sapped our speed of break once he came on. Having said that, on debut he made no big mistakes, and looked to get on the ball, which speaks well for his potential...

Overall, job done with a second string, and 30 very positive minutes. After that, dull and lacking ambition: I wish we’d scored two before going into low-power mode.
