lookwhaticando Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Let's not get hung up on the ol' we sold Conners thing. Too many ifs and buts there. Sure, we're now somewhat short of a reliable goalscorer, but we stand to rake in another million quid in a few months time - with which we can spend on a young striker with a good eye for goal. It'd probably help if we had the right players in the right positions, rather than picking names out of a hat and putting them in any old order The transfer window is not far away, and now that the defence is looking a lot tighter there's not as much to worry about as there was just after the window closed and we were conceding all over the place. If we can make it thru to the window, we'll be in good shape - with Weso coming back and possibly a new striker joining us, we'll have more attacking options and the goals will probably follow.
Jordan Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Well on 106centuryforestfm, they were asking for millions. They were, but only because the transfer fee would be set by an independent tribunal because Williams was under 23 at the time of his transfer. Leicester say what fee they would have paid, Forest give their ideal selling price and the tribunal sets the fee somewhere in the middle. There's no way that the tribunal would have set the fee for the ridiculous #5 million that Forest demanded, but I guess that was their method of bargaining. And as for the Connolly/Wigan/"good business vs. bad business" side discussion, don't forget that LCFC is still very much in the red. There's no way all of the #2 million would go right into Levein's transfer kitty with all those creditors looking over the club's shoulders.
Scow Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Talent wise, Williams is one of the best in this division. Shame that his attitude is all wrong.
Manwell Pablo Posted 7 November 2005 Posted 7 November 2005 We had a perfectly good striker and sold him to Wigan, now good business or not , I said at the time that it will only be good business if we replaced him, we haven't! That is why we are not scoring the goals, you can't say we haven't had the chances! We have, we just haven't had anyone good enough to put em away. MDV will never be a consistent goalscorer, Hammond the same, haven't seen enough of Hume but a decent striker up front for him to play off will no him no harm and bring out the best in him. MDV will score 15 to 18 goals a season. The problem is the goals coming from midfield ( non existent ) and the other strikers, Hume I have time for he looks dangerous , as Ric Flair has said dropping deap and making runs, hes only problem is the very final product. However he is finding his feet, also he has time he is 21 and could be a very good player. I was extremly happy ( espically after seeing and hearing very good things about him @ Tranmere ) to see him sign as a Leicester player. Elvis Hammond has been a very bad signing, We had him till January on loan, very true he could of been recalled at any time, very true he might not of played in the cup. But what were the chances of a recall happening? What were the risks of that happening also? I would have Tommy Wright up front over hammond any day of the week if worse came to worst At the end of the day, what would we rather have 350,000 in the Trasnfere kittly or Headless Hammond. I dont want to go into the lads career history but he's 25, the same age as Stephen Gerrard. out of of several performeces for Bristol rovers, over a dozern for Roosenberg ( a good ducth team playing in a poor dutch diviosn) a handful for fulham, and obviosuly hes games for us, he has netted three times, and He has deeply failed to impress me. Its not as if hes even a prospect, as I said hes the same age as Stevie G. hes not getting any better
Ric Flair Posted 7 November 2005 Posted 7 November 2005 Keep up the good work Gareth, your an inspiration to all up and coming footballers
