davieG Posted 5 November 2005 Posted 5 November 2005 Piss or what! What did he have to do with it anyway? If they are going to bombard us with this trite reporting they could at least stick the name and picture up of a player who apppears to give a damn when he's playing. Williams Content With Saints Draw Gareth Williams was happy to see his side claim a point following their goalless draw against Southampton at the Walkers Stadium. Chances were few and far between making it a frustrating afternoon for the partisan crowd. But Williams said: "Of course it is frustrating when you don't create much but a draw was probably a fair result. "However, we have to remember that Southampton are a good team with some quality players and are going to be up there pushing for promotion towards the end of the season. "In times gone by we perhaps would have lost that match but, although we didn't have that edge to win it this time around, we never really looked like losing. "So all in all a point wasn't a bad thing." The Foxes have now kept three successive clean sheets and are 15th in the Championship table. However, the goals are far from free-flowing at this moment in time but the Scottish international is refusing to press the panic button. The 23-year-old midfielder added: "We may not be scoring regularly, but as the manager reiterated after the game, a clean sheet is a good base to start from. "We would much rather be picking up a point than nothing at all. We now have two weeks to try and work on our finishing and attacking side of our game. "I believe all it takes is one game, a good performance and result helps confidence and we can take it on from there." City's next Championship match is at Burnley on Saturday, November 19. Burnley will have been buoyed by their 3-2 away win at Luton Town at the weekend and it was only last month that the Clarets came away from the Walkers Stadium with a smash-and-grab 1-0 triumph. "Every game falls into a similar category at the moment," Williams said. "It will be tough but fingers crossed we can go there and get a victory. "Time is slipping away and if we have any aspirations of pushing on in terms of league position then we have to go to places like Burnley and win. "We certainly owe them one from earlier in the season."

Isopen Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 What Williams isn't taking is his opportunity. Surely he must realise if we had a fit Hughes, then he (Williams) wouldn't make the starting 11 Totally failed to prove the case for himself today The ressies are waiting Gareth if you don't get you're arse into gear soon
lush Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Down the football league we go... when we play the forest...
Cobbo Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 I couldn't be arsed to read this, but thought I would just point out that Williams is a tosser and is shit at football.
Bert Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 when we play the forest... This is what we'll sing....
lush Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 This is what we'll sing.... We are the losers, we are the losers....
Anish Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 I couldn't be arsed to read this, but thought I would just point out that Williams is a tosser and is shit at football. So true.
Jordan Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Maybe this 0-0 business isn't a bad thing? Perhaps the team can keep all their remaining cup ties scoreless and win on penalties? Surely if they have the ball neatly places 12 yards away and are given all the time in the world to shoot, they'd be able to put one or two of this in? Would they? Anyway, before last season, I bumped into a Forest fan in NY and asked him what he thought about his club offloading Williams to us. He laughed and said, "Take him! You can have him for free, for all I care!" I guess he had a point there.
Guest Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 "We would much rather be picking up a point than nothing at all. We now have two weeks to try and work on our finishing and attacking side of our game. You'll need more than two weeks, methinks.
davieG Posted 6 November 2005 Author Posted 6 November 2005 You'll need more than two weeks, methinks. I never said that Louise
Guest Gist Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 levein has said on the OS he is looking into getting a new striker if we got someone who can do the business up front we will be sorted, with our defence playing well and when hughes is back we should be ok i cant see us being relagated.
Guest Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 I never said that Louise If you're going to pick on people's mistakes, pick on the right person first!
davieG Posted 6 November 2005 Author Posted 6 November 2005 If you're going to pick on people's mistakes, pick on the right person first! My sincere apologies to both you and Louise - don't I look the complete

We had a perfectly good striker and sold him to Wigan, now good business or not , I said at the time that it will only be good business if we replaced him, we haven't! That is why we are not scoring the goals, you can't say we haven't had the chances! We have, we just haven't had anyone good enough to put em away. MDV will never be a consistent goalscorer, Hammond the same, haven't seen enough of Hume but a decent striker up front for him to play off will no him no harm and bring out the best in him.
Gené and Tonic Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Levein crapped it up. He needed a good consistent goalscorer, instead he got a good support striker/attacking midfielder, and a striker who had never scored a professional goal in English football who never looks like scoring either!

I know its no good looking at what could have been but if connolly was still with us it would of made a huge difference ........ any way

You can't replace Best Bitter with Shandy and not expect anyone to notice it's as simple as that. Was gonna use Champagne with Lemonade but Connolly was never Champagne!
lush Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Anyway, before last season, I bumped into a Forest fan in NY and asked him what he thought about his club offloading Williams to us. He laughed and said, "Take him! You can have him for free, for all I care!" I guess he had a point there. Well on 106centuryforestfm, they were asking for millions.
cisono Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Piss or what! What did he have to do with it anyway? I wouldn't read much into it... Don't know why but I just imagine that players are just singled out to make comments to the press once in a while, whether they want to or not and whether they performed brilliantly in the match or not (or perhaps didn't even play). Sounds like this was Williams's turn, as he has not given an interview in a while...
