The original point the result last night was bad for qualifying for Europe, my point is that it isn’t a disaster that we are out the cup when it’s probably more likely that the league finish will determine who gets that Europe place, especially when it isn’t a Europa League qualification any more, it’s this new third tier Europe tournament instead, which more than likely no one in last seasons top 6 will care about.

Yeah I agree with your point, it's really hard to win a cup and the Carabao was the lowest of this season priorities, even the FA cup early rounds will probably see a similar team being played and us going out in the third or fourth round, all eggs need to be equally spread between the two main baskets. I'd be happy with QF/SF of Europa and 7th or 8th in league providing we qualify for Europe again. Like Brendan said the cups give others a chance to play, and the first team squad will get stronger and better from playing European opposition than a league 1/2 team in the FA cup.
