He just slipped over twice.

Ndidi looked way more dodgy at centre-back than Soyuncu - and as bad as Hamza's pass was for the goal, Ndifi really didn't need to dive in for the tackle like that when Vydra was obviously going to beat him to the ball. He panicked and just went into a poorly timed tackle that allowed Vydra to easily beat him and it was schoolboy defending from him for their goal.

It gets glossed over a bit because of his assist though.

LOL! Now, just about seen it all on FT...lol

He got beat, got dribbled. It happens to everyone occasionally, but putting the blame on him or calling it "schoolboy defending" takes the cake. He did NOT dive in. On the contrary, he stayed on his feet and tried to tackle the player but got beat. The blame belongs entirely to Hamza who put him in that position at all. Next you would be blaming Kasper for "diving in" and not saving the shot.

It's almost as if Ndidi isn't a centre back. Who'd have thought it?

Ndidi played well at CB. Definitely better than a surprisingly shaky Amartey and Soyuncu who kept slipping all over the joint and kept kicking it to the opposition or out of touch. cags is obviously top-notch, but that was subpar performance on the night.

Huh? He did dive in. Diving into a tackle doesnt mean going full force into a slide tackle. I know he stayed on his feet but he decided to go all in, go towards the ball, take several steps forward on a tackle he wasn't going to win too early and then he essentially takes himself completely out of the game by committing to the tackle.

I'm not blaming Kasper because Kasper couldn't have done anything differently. How Kasper came out at that angle wouldn't have affected anything.

Watch it back below, Vydra still has 20 yards to go. Ndidi stops when he realises what's happening, has time to make 4 or 5 steps towards the ball and then makes himself small so Vydra can beat him. Ndidi can easily back off and try and make the challenge later or push Vydra out wide - he has the time, he's noticed what has happened, but he misjudged the footrace between him and Vydra but still goes into the challenge and turns himself to the side and makes himself small during the challenge, rather than let him easily walk past him and give him the whole goal to aim at. He shouldn't have committed straight away to the tackle and didn't need to take the steps towards the ball once he can see Vydra has the heard start on him - if not and he allows Vydra to take the first touch then Vydra still has to beat him.

Absolutely Hamza was majority at fault but Ndidi did not need to go straight in for the tackle when Vydra has the head start. He could have given Vydra a couple more steps and made the tackle/block much more possible for him.
