2021/2022 Squad

Predictions and hopes for next season's squad to fight on four fronts. League, League Cup, FA Cup (defending champions) and UEFA Cup (real opportunity for European silverware).

 

New or returning players in bold.

 

GK: Schmeichel, Ward, Iversen.

CB: Evans, Fofana, Soyuncu, Knight, ???.

RB: Periera, Castagne, Justin.

LB: Thomas, Bertrand.

CM: Tielemans, Maddison, Ndidi, Praet, Soumare, Dewsbury-Hall.

RM: ???, Albrighton. 

LM: Barnes, Boga, Sowah.

ST: Vardy, Iheanacho, Edouard. 

 

I've only added identified targets and returning loanees so far. As far as unidentified targets I think a new backup CB and new first team RW are required. What say you?

Justin can be put against both LB and RB. I know some players can do a job in other positions, but this guy genuinely can play at the same level on either side.

 

Also only Choudhury has been really linked with a move away, so Perez would needs adding.

Yea, we have a few utility players like that, Castagne and Albrighton can do a job either side as well and Sowah can play all across the front.

 

If we simply have to have Perez as a squad player again I'll have to lump it, but I can't stomach him wasting a forward position in the starting 11 for another season.

Justin isn't back until November getting match fit and back in form he won't be playing much until January at least then hopefully he can come back to how he was playing this season

And? What's your point? The OP included him in the squad, I was pointing out he plays the same level in two positions. Nothing about his injury.

Castagne is shit at LB lets be honest, and he's last resort a CB as is Ndidi that why they shouldn't be under two positions. Albrighton us ok on the LWB, but not so good he could be first choice there. But Justin is different as he could be first choice on either side.

Yea, none of them are CBs that's for sure. I'd agree Justin is just better overall.

I'm happy enough to keep blooding Thomas there and get Bertrand in on a free as a steady pro for backup so we can deploy our funds elsewhere on attacking options.

Sell Perez, Hamza, Mendy and Amartey. Praet can leave if he so wishes.

 

This summer should be about a couple of starting signings but most importantly improving the overall quality of the squad.

The OP included him in his squad, so its all hypothetical once he comes back. I was pointing out, hypothetically that once fit, he can play both sides. If the OP put him down as a keeper and I commented saying he's not a keeper, would you say "he can't play in goal whilst he's injured anyway."?
