I don't really understand the whole 50 points per season for having a season ticket really.

An example; my dad who doesn't go to away games has 311 points (I've used it to get my son tickets in the past, which is where the 11 comes from) My son aged 7 got his first season ticket this year which has actually made it more difficult to get him tickets as he doesn't have the members ballot anymore.

It's fine for me on 540 points but for my son who is nearly 8 I've had to make my daughter a member to apply for tickets for him, or I buy on my dad's if it gets that far, or i try and get one on here.

My son goes to pretty much every away game aside from midweek far away ones. Games like Brentford, he doesn't stand a chance because he doesn't have many points, yet, he's been to probably 40 away games over 2 and a half seasons. It's okay for the holier than thou brigade with their "go to the less glamorous games then you'll build your priority up" But it isn't really practical taking a 7 Yr old away to Millwall on a Weds night 😂

To be honest he's already earnt the chance to be at games like Brentford but he gets taken out of the queue by people who don't go to as many aways but can get a ticket simply by virtue of being older.

All this said, if anybody hears of a spare Brentford ticket, let me know, thanks in advance 👍😂

Exact situation for my son albeit with a season ticket for last 3 years. Tried to explain this numerous times to the club but they either don’t understand or choose not to

Sorry if I look line a twat but all season ticket holders get 50 points for renewal so it makes no difference does it.

My lad is 10 and had a season ticket since he was 2. He does what aways he can so he's been Sunderland, Watford, West ham etc to try earn points. But it doesn't matter if you go to 0 or 11 you will still only earn those points and every one gets 50 next time round. Its not like the issue 50 points to some and not others.

I think the issue is that if you have only had a season ticket for the last 6 years, you would need to have gone to 100 away games to get level with someone who goes to no away games, but had their season ticket for 8 years. And specifically, if you are 8 years old, that would have been an amazing effort, but still down the priority list.

Could argue if you only had a season ticket for 6 years you jumped on the band wagon.

But OK I accept your point. But I think the reward on the aways is to reward those that have been loyal for a number of years.

I accept you can't pick your age. And my lad is 100s of points behind me. But is happy to take notts county, Burton etc to build his points he did manage to get to Norwich on his own ref this season.

I believe that your lad is just within the time frame where his renewal points come into play. If you hadn't got him a ST until the following year, he would still be a lower priority this season than someone who had one for a year longer and never been to an away game.

Well that maybe. I've not sat and tried to work it out. Poor bastard will just have to do some proper grounds before he can ever do old Trafford etc. Should give him and education. 🤣

So a child is jumping on the bandwagon going to a game with his dad? Great point.

the need for 50 points for each season ticket is completely irrelevant. Following your team away from home is completely different from following at home. Newer fans and children have absolutely no chance of ever ever catching up with people who barely ever go away from home even if they do every single away game for 15 years

It was clearly tongue in cheek. My lad has the same problem. He's 100s of points behind me so getting tickets together for games is a pain.

But because everyone is getting 50 home points I really don't see that has much impact. And many of those aren't the ones taking up away tickets anyway I know 1000s of season ticket holders that don't have any interest in travelling away. Those that are going would always be ahead. Because they can never implement a scheme where all 23k are on a level playing field ain't because our website couldn't cope lol

The biggest issue is definitely those buying and ref lending. I know 2 people who Brough west ham and Norwich to jump a band. Must be nice to have 60 quid to waste just to get stabbed in naples.

I think the other thing is; you can have a child, like mine that goes to practically every away game, but a season ticket holder who has been to a handful in a 7/8 Yr period suddenly decides they quite fancy a new ground or important game can buy one before some that travel all over. This system seems to alienate younger fans. Don't get me wrong, for 7 years old my son does well, he's only a few short of the whole Premier league along with a load of others he's been to. But he struggled for Norwich, so I used my dad's season ticket to beat the scramble, he won't be going to Brentford and I envisage a struggle for a few others too. If it was just away points for away games he'd have good priority as he'd have been rewarded for going to away games. Annoyingly, he still wouldn't have the prioirtiy he should have as I'm buying tickets from others to get him there. More often than not at adult prices. Then some on here come out with stuff about going to the less glamorous games to build priority. He does them all.

Yeah that’s a separate issue but one that should be discussed in this thread too. You can see it often in the ticket threads on here where people are reselling theirs for the aways they don’t fancy, just to maintain their P1 status. Click on their post history and it’s literally the only reason they use FT.

One way round this would be loading away tickets onto a ST (so they have to be resold properly or risk your ST getting nicked of selling to a random for the sake of a priority point). That presumably needs every ground in the league to use the same system though, so it’s not gonna happen.

Same boat. I brought a Norwich adult. Then it got to his so had to rebuy using his ref. He's going Brentford but a bit like yourself for Norwich he's going on a relatives ticket that can't make it.

Guess that's a problem of others as well tho as the kids are jumping the queue using other refs.

He’s only 7 years old though. He’ll get there eventually. By the time he’s a teenager and whizzed you for his mates he’ll be top tier I’d imagine. Which is pretty impressive.
Regardless, I do understand your point and probably agree with it too. He deserves to be at Brentford given his record

I think more opportunities for points, fa cup and league cup, pre season, women’s matches and development squad. Other than that it’s the best option which is still terrible.

I’m old enough to remember queueing overnight for Wembley tickets after going to 59 games in the 91/92 season so it could be worse.
