He was playing out of position as well at left back so we need to give him a bit of a break. 

 

As others have said he needs to go and play for a good League 1 or League 2 side and get some match experience.

JHC some on here are slating an academy player who has been chucked in at the deep end, if he has a great game next time he'll be the best thing since slice bread, for a week at least.

Didn't Arsenal also reject Harry Kane? Sheffield Wednesday let Jamie Vardy go didn't they? Pretty sure Newcastle let a young Alan Shearer go from their youth team. Celtic rejected Andy Robertson. Chelsea have been mulling over spending nearly a £100m on Declan Rice, a player formerly in their academy.

Point taken...but every time ive watched him play in the first team he's looked poor.

Ok, yesterday we were down to the bare bones and he had to play, but just cannot see him succeeding at this level. He looks a Championship player at best.

You might be right, but I'll point out for the millionth time, that was his third game in the senior team, you've only seen him play twice! And he was out of position. I said it in a post earlier, have we not learnt to not completely write young players off after a couple of games.

Comments like this are an absolute disgrace. 

 

He's 20 years old and right footed playing left back. Yesterday was only his 2nd game for the first team (we won both of the games he played btw) 

 

I can't belive I'm having to explain this to a football fan but young players need time and patience and experience to develop and improve.
