Anyone going to any events this year? Got a couple lined up tomorrow evening, Emmanuel Sonubi (saw him at the Comedy Store in London once, very funny) and then some Improv show at the Knight & Garter later on. May check out some of the acts on earlier if we can get into town in time.

Always a great event for Leicester but feels like, as with most good things in the city, it should be bigged up more.

I've been meaning to go for years, looked up a lot of acts to see if there was any upcoming comics that would be worth watching - literally all of them were painfully unfunny ffs.

Fin Taylor was the last comedian I went to see and he was great.

This is so under appreciated by the locals it's criminal .

I'll be going to one or two

The shows are hit or miss but that's comedy nights in a nut shell. Went to two shows last night. One of them was 5-10 minute acts and 50/50 between pretty funny and pretty awful. Then went to the naked comedy show in Manhattan where all the comedians did stand up naked. That was hilarious and most of the comedians were pretty funny.

Agreed with the other poster that this festival definitely needs more love. I think it would be great if Leicester became a bit of a hub for stand up comedy.

Went to just the ticket last night, we go every year, and is usually very good.

Last night was rubbish...

Thats the point though I think.

Trying material for the 1st time

The Work In Progress once are very hit and miss, but I guess you know that could be the case when you sign up to go.

Glenn Moore packed out Firebug at 1pm and had a few decent jokes, but you were very aware of what he was doing because he stuttered a lot and was sat on his tablet a lot of the time crossing stuff off. By contrast, Emmanuel Sonubi's basically felt like a fully-formed show already.

Went to Ross Noble at De Montfort Hall on Saturday, was a great set especially how a lot of it is improvised

Want to go and see Jarred Christmas next Thursday - seen him twice (once as support for Jon Richardson years ago, and once as a compere at a show at Jongleurs), and he was hilarious both times. Deserves to be much more successful than he is
