Cosmik Posted 16 April 2023 Posted 16 April 2023 Given too much of a free ride by a crap owner out of his depth. 1 1

Or you just guessing at things based on the press love in for him. Whilst I accept the point about keeping the squad fresh, the reality is we didnt drop a few places in the league, we went from qualifying for Europe to relegation fodder. Its not even that simple either, he did this with our most expensive team assembled, the team lost all fight, he persisted with a playing style not suitable for the players that was also clear other teams had worked out, we lost all ability to penetrate the other teams final third, or even simple things like having shots in target in a match. That isnt the end of it either, we have become a complete mess defensively and have a injury record the complete opposite of how things were before he became manager (which was then consistently great for a number of seasons). Then we have the players running down their contracts, which is so bizarre, something I havent seen across so many players before. I also think he had personality clashes, seemingly picking players he gets along with, its the only way to try and rationalise Ward been picked for most of the season and benching our CL quality CB. -- Your earlier examples of his good starts at clubs, yes he starts well, but it doesnt mean he is a good long term manager. ithuriel Posted 16 April 2023 Posted 16 April 2023 First two years, great, last two years was like he was trying to get the sack. Never seen us play so badly, so consistently under a manager for so long and seen the team so bereft of any kind of fight than under Brendan in this final season and I thought last season should have been his final one.
Dan Posted 16 April 2023 Posted 16 April 2023 Starts well. Crumbles and absolutely no clue how to kick on a club. More fool us for thinking he'd be different here and allowing it to happen. 1
jmono84 Posted 16 April 2023 Posted 16 April 2023 His legacy. He should be hailed as one of the greatest we’ve had but almost all Leicester fans know he left us in an absolute mess and now can’t stand him.

His positive patches are based on time served, not budget - ie he starts well. Give him the Man City job and he'd do well for 2 years then they'd tail off This is true. He actually seems to do better when inheriting a good squad from his predecessor and getting results from it. It is when he tries to put his own stamp and bring ‘his’ players in it goes wrong. I’m not sure where this notion that if he got loads of money to spend it would be any different. The players he has brought were flops or promptly regressed. 6 1
