10am show next Sunday will feature the Leicester City FC club anthem "When You're Smiling" half hour investigation into the history of the song. Colin Murray presenting.

I listen to this every Sunday morning on the Colin Murray show on 5 Live (feature starts 10.30).

There is some really interesting history behind most of the various club anthems featured. Hope ours does us justice with WYS.

I'm wondering when it started on our terraces? I can remember it as far back as 1982 during our FA Cup run that season.

Supposed to have been late 60s after some City fans heard a singer performing in a bar on a Friday night.

It was sung (with jazz hands) in the early 70's when I started going down the City as a nipper. At that time we also sang YNWA with scarves up, usually after scoring or the final minutes when winning. Most teams did as it was a generic football anthem not just belonging to Liverpool.

Yes, we used to do hand claps between each line at the end of the song

walk on (clap clap)

walk on (clap clap)

with hope (clap clap)

in your heart (clap clap)

And you’ll ne-ver walk alone…

Will be useful for those members of the Official Supporters Club and the DSA who had no clue what it was or why people had an affinity with it, when it's introduction was being discussed a couple of seasons back :)

Each week Colin Murray has a club historian on to explain the origin and link of the song to the particular club.

Hope we get someone properly knowledgeable rather than a Ginetta type.
