Carla Ward stepped away in the summer from Villa, citing that she wanted to spend some time with family, I’d certainly offer her the job if she was interested even if it was short term until the end of the season.

Casey Stoney is currently out of work, knows the WSL well and has management experience.

Remi Allen is from Leicester and had 2 spells with us, currently coach at Southampton, again she knows the WSL well and could be considered.

There isn’t a huge amount of options, but the team have regressed hugely under Miquel.

we probably have gone backwards but it is also undeniable how hamstrung we have been through injuries in the attacking area of the pitch so I feel for Miquel on that score

Carla Ward has said she’s ready to return to management and as she lives in Sheffield it would be a much shorter commute to Leicester than it was to Villa.

She’d be a good option, and probably realistic, but whoever is manager, the squad needs significant investment.

Being perennial relegation contenders isn’t going to help attract players or coaches.  Or supporters for that matter.  Leicester seem locked in a vicious circle.

Good points, the squad does need significant investment, I do think Ward would probably be best equipped though to save us this season, connections and knows the WSL.

We are sleepwalking towards relegation under Miquel.

We spent a lot of last season without Petermann and O’Brien, Mouchon really wasn’t that impressive before injury, the big miss is Rantala. I agree to a certain extent but this manager is out of her depth.

Could have had money on her scoring, she wasn’t happy in her final months at Leicester and had a point to prove I guess.

I’ve not bothered going tonight, first match I’ve missed this season, it’s rubbish at the moment.

Villa have fired their manager, let’s hope we follow suit.

5-2 but knocked out of the league cup, Bott taken off due to injury.

The incorrectly disallowed Takarada goal against BHA proved to be crucial.

Meanwhile Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City get parachuted straight into the quarter finals which is an absolute disgrace imo.

Yeah that is a disgrace to be honest, those teams have more than enough resources to be able to field teams, even if it’s u23 sides, they shouldn’t be given a bye just because they are involved in Europe.

And yes the Takarada goal coupled with the Bristol draw has cost us.

This is why I'll never have any real interest in Women's top flight football, I keep an eye on it and watch some bits of LCFC games as they've just created a carbon copy of the bastardised PL. The FA had a chance to create an entirely independent, from the PL a Women's League equally funded and on a level playing field but they chose to chase the money for the benefit of the Sick Six rather than go for organic growth

I know but that misses my point.

I have mixed feelings on this.

Instinctively I’d rather the WSL didn’t mirror the PL, although it’s the PL that I find dull (and don’t watch) rather than the WSL.  But I think it was an inevitable and pragmatic choice to encourage men’s teams to develop a women’s side and if you look round Europe, it’s been the case everywhere.  If the FA hadn’t gone down that route England as a national side would have risked being left behind and the Euro win and World Cup final wouldn’t have happened.

I don’t really follow the finances too closely, but as I understand it spending on a women’s side is ignored as far as PSR is concerned, so it’s basically down to an individual club’s appetite of what they are prepared to spend.  Of course that means the clubs with the richest owners are more likely to have the better women’s teams and so we end up with the better teams in the PL and WSL being the same. But if that’s the price to pay for the huge increase in standard, I’m ok with it on balance.

I find that as I watch the WSL - and I watch every match - I do so as a neutral and I don’t bring any baggage from the PL teams.  I might have an axe to grind against the men’s teams, but that doesn’t carry over to the women, to the extent that I don't really think of them as the same clubs.  Perhaps if I still watched men's football it would be different.

Ultimately, I’ve been watching the women’s game for 25 years and I love where it’s got to, even if the process of getting there has been a bit artificial.
