Run 3️⃣0️⃣ complete and just 1️⃣ more to go, that was horrid this morning, as only a 15 hour gap between my 2 runs, also having to run 7km yesterday due to my watch glitching on every lap behind each goalmouth, a 6 hour round trip to LCFC and woke feeling under the weather but got it done albeit a slower one than usual. 

Over 1️⃣5️⃣9️⃣km or 9️⃣9️⃣ miles completed running the Prostate United challenge of 5km each and every day of October to raise much needed funds and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK. This disease effects 1 in 8 men and takes

Run 3️⃣1️⃣ and the final one completed of this years Prostate United challenge of running 5️⃣km each and every day of October to raise money and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK 

I have run  1️⃣6️⃣5️⃣km  or 1️⃣0️⃣2️⃣.5️⃣miles and it has been a fantastic and rewarding experience.
 

The number of people who have reached out with their stories of how this disease has impacted their lives and also it has been good to see people talking about it and encouraging mates to get tested etc, it’s really important that men keep talking about this and the more they do the more lives it will help to save through awareness and earlier screening and testing.  

 

This disease effects 1 in 8 men and takes

RESEARCH UPDATE

Scientists across the UK to tackle cancer's spread to bone 

 

Last month, we announced that thanks to your support, we had teamed up with the charity Breast Cancer Now. Together, we are going to fund up to £600,000 of new research to tackle the spread of both cancers to the bones, known as bone metastasis.  We are now very excited to reveal that we have had an incredible 25 applications from scientists across the country. From immunotherapy to AI to repurposing existing drugs, the scientists are all hoping to take a different approach, tackling the problem on all fronts. In the next few months, our scientific advisory committee, patient panels and peer reviewers will be reviewing the applications to make sure that we fund the projects that will transform the future for prostate and breast cancer patients.   We couldn't fund this incredible cutting edge research which aims to help those suffering from one of the most difficult aspects of a cancer diagnosis without your support.  Stay tuned over the coming weeks to find out how you can directly support this work and make any gift you choose to give go even further than usual. Find out more about the grant call on our website.

Really want to keep this thread active and engaged as it’s really important to keep raising awareness amongst the fanbase and hopefully encourage more and more to get tested

 

Just a few facts and figures as to how this disease impacts lives. 

 

• Prostate Cancer is the most common cancer in men, more than 52,000 men are diagnosed with Prostate Cancer every year on average – that's 144 men every day.

• 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in their lifetime.

• And the risk is even higher if you're black, with 1 in 4 men being diagnosed.

• Around 490,000 men are living with and after Prostate Cancer.

• It manly affects those over 50 and your risk increases with age.

• One man dies every 45 minutes of Prostate Cancer.

 

The earlier you find prostate cancer, the easier it is to treat so if you have any concerns contact your GP 🖤🩵

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported and donated to my Prostate United challenge. I was able to raise a total of £5,675 and I made the Team of the Season as the highest individual fundraiser. 
 

Amazingly the challenge raised £375.000 this year and in total has now raised £1,000,000 for Prostate Cancer UK
