The captain has to be a starter for me and one of our most important players, so that has to rule out Hamza, Thomas et al. None of last seasons squad aside from on loan JJ showed any signs of leadership or character so for me it has to be a new signing or run the risk of another season of spineless performances and shite attitudes.

In fairness I think a lot of this will be about social media views and interactions, I think Josh is creating content in what is a pretty quiet pre season at the moment, given there is little in the way of transfer speculation to report on.

As others have said the academy is absolutely critical to us and I think it will become more and more important in the coming years. What will be interesting is if we can start getting more players out on loan and then like Cartwright selling the ones that we don’t think will make it with us rather than let their contracts expire and release. If we could sell 4 or 5 fringe academy players and make £1m + per season it makes sense especially if we include sell ons and add ons, it will generate much needed revenue, particularly with SCR in mind.

I thought we signed him for about £8m plus add ons so highly likely unless there are any specific appearance driven bonuses then by my reckoning it will be closer to £5m but maybe wrong.

After listening to Run Ric Run it definitely had an influence of a band I absolute love. great pod again fellas listened on my flight to Majorca, mixed feelings about hearing your voices again, as really missed the pod but on the other hand, it signals that 9 months of misery are on the horizon again 😂😂

The biggest concern for me is the complete lack of due diligence we undertake on players character or personality, we have made so many mistakes in these last few years, there are so many examples of signing players with a soft underbelly or bad apples. To go from being one of the best to arguably the laziest and worst in such a short space of time is absolutely criminal and yet people still stay in role or earn a promotion off the back of it.

If the likes of Winks, Faes and VK are still here and in and around the 1st team then any chance of the much needed refresh, rebuild and new start will have been lost. Too much water has gone under the bridge with these players, one mistake or half arsed performance and the whole place will just go toxic. For the sake of everyone this summer we have to move heaven and earth to shift these players on.

The summer we spunked a fortune on Soumare, Daka, Bertrand and Vesty all on ridiculous wages absolutely killed us and from then on and meant when we really needed a refresh we were had well and truly bollocksed, Rodgers conveniently forgot all that to paddle the mantra he wasn’t being supported.

Is it just me or do others feel the club are missing a massive commercial opportunity by not releasing the kits, it’s approaching peak holiday season and certainly younger fans and even some of the older generation like to take the new shirt(s) on holiday. Given the kit is usually heavily discounted by the time Christmas comes along, then the window to maximise shirt sale revenue is fairly limited, even if the club want to ensure revenue is only realised from 1st July onwards to count towards next seasons financials, they could have started marketing it and sharing some teasers etc or launch one of the shirts in June and the other 2 in July. Just seems somewhat short sighted in my opinion.

I have been thinking long and hard about this since his appointment, would he have been my preferred choice, absolutely not because I wanted to see us move away from this style. However I also don’t think this will be the unmitigated disaster some are predicting. I am at least glad the club have appointed someone fully aligned to the style of play the want to play. The last 4 appointments since Enzo have been a real mixed bag, appointments not necessarily aligned to the style the club want to play and as a result it has been a shambolic mess. At least with Martin coming in the whole club will be aligned and focused on the same thing rather than this patchwork quilt we have seen over the last 2 seasons. I think whilst there will be bumps in the road, this forthcoming season will be a lot more like the Enzo season where we feel like we are getting back on some sort of right track.

Wasn’t my 1st choice, as I really wanted to see a change in playing style and strategy but that is on the clubs hierarchy. I would have loved to see someone like Challinor. Now he is here I will be hoping and praying he is a massive success, as this is what the club so desperately needs to survive. His interview seems ok, I like what he was saying but he has to convert that to on the pitch performances and results. Massive job ahead and I really hope in 3 years time he has shocked the vast majority and become a hero.

Once Russell Martin is announced there will likely be a flurry of cancellations probably explains the timing of this announcement……

And yet still some fans harp on that he shouldn’t have been sacked, appalling appointment and horrendous manager whose very short spell did so much damage

I really hope this appointment works and Martin is a huge success, because for the sake of the football club, it can’t afford for it not to. However this appointment does confirm that there has been zero self reflection within the hierarchy in relation to the strategic direction of the football side of the business, and despite the ‘reshuffle’ we are just going to serve up even more of the same. There was a massive opportunity for a complete reset and a move in a different direction, even if we stayed with a possession based style but implemented a far higher intensity style but instead we have appointed the one manager that the majority of the fanbase really didn’t want as he epitomises slow, laboured possession for possessions sake football that the majority have come to despise. Yet again complete and utter tone deaf from the club and shows how limited, lazy and stubborn the thinking is within the boardroom.

He really wouldn’t have been anywhere near my shortlist purely because I wanted to see us move away from that type of football and look to play more a high energy, high intensity style. However my love for Leicester City, means that if he is appointed he comes in and is able to get something really positive going here because this club sure as hell needs it. I really do hope if appointed he can be a real success, but I have huge reservations.

Worryingly so far the current noise to players moving on are - Monga Page Nelson Stolarcyrk Motsi none of those were in my top 5 as needing to move on whilst it’s all quiet in relation to the likes of Winks, Mavididi, Faes, JV, Kristensen etc

I really don’t want to see him anywhere near the club next season, I think his ego will not allow him to hang around league one getting bullied week in and week out. I think had we managed to stay up then he would have hung around for the final 12 months of his contract and feathered his nest, I think relegation will see him cut and run albeit for a very minimal fee.

Not a fan of this appointment as I really wanted us to move in a different direction, move away from this style of play and bring in some fresh ideas. Martin is very much more of the same. I think it just goes to prove that despite back to back relegations and 3 in the last 4, plus the hiring of McCarron, it’s still very much Aiyawatt and Rudkin calling the shots and their obsession with this slow, turgid style is not dwindling.

They did he told them to piss off so they moved to Brussell ….. after asking Enzo back in February, it would appear they have just dusted off the shortlist from 2023 😂

Wonder if there will be a flurry of cancelled season tickets once this is confirmed 😂
