I totally get the question of the OP being asked. There was nothing about last season I enjoyed. From the threat of points deduction and feeling we had to cut back rather then spend at the start, to the disjointed so signings and managerial appointments, to the general lack of spirit and fight through the team. 

 

I do feel more hopeful under Marti that at least the fight part might be restored which is a start.

I look at it more this way, the target is around top 10 lower than that is disappointing below 15th is a disaster. Play Offs would be amazing, anything above that is a bonus. No promotion this season wouldn't be a disaster for the football club, for me its about results and performances we just want a better season than last. Ironically we've only played 8 games and it's already better than last season.

Promotion is still pretty imperative but we've got to do it in such a way that we're well set to not completely tank like last season. I don't think we're managing the latter whatsoever, while barely even looking like a side that will go up.

 

Make no mistake though there is no way that being in this division over the Premier League is better for us. The really crucial point is getting the recruitment right though, and that is true of any team in any division - you only have to look at Sunderland. We completely blew it a year ago.

I'd take promotion, but injuries to a few key players and it's not worth putting yourself through the stress.

 

Staying down isn't going to make us better, we'll just make awful decisions at this level as well. We just will eventually run out of free money from the Prem and begin the regression into league one.

 

I don't mind watching us in the Champ to be fair, I despise VAR that much that watching games without it is nice. We're a shambles of a club atm, so it's nice having absolutely no expecations. If we see a few young lads come through and go onto better things, that's probably as good as it gets for us till the board accept they're terrible.
