We are asking fans to take part in a new survey on the Away Priority Points process, as part of a wide-ranging consultation into our approach to away ticketing.

The scheme, which has been in place for ten seasons, is a subject many supporters care deeply about. Having listened to a range of views through our Fan Engagement Plan meetings, we are reviewing how the system works today, particularly for newer supporters seeking access to away tickets.

Pointless members getting 1 point per game when season tickets get 50 per season with no need to attend any aways, may as well do away with single points for attending imo

In my opinion I really don’t think membership points means anything more than getting priority to home games.. majority of the time aways sell out before all members anyways so the club really don’t care whether members complain about away game points or not if that makes sense..

not that I believe it’s still right or fair I must add..

It’s always just been a ploy by the complainers to get rid of us older fans who they say don’t cheers loudly enough at away games and are seen as not needed or wanted.

I’m 73, following the lads since 62/63; been a season ticket holder on and off since 1970, mostly on and definitely all this century. I used to go to 90% of away games, last couple of years maybe 60%. Mainly due to not going to the 150 mile plus away matches as can be tiring travelling and more disappointingly the away support can turn toxic more quickly these days. I’ve obviously got well over 700 points, but with over 150 away matches over the last 10 years am not happy that the younger “fans” want me to lose a priority I’ve built up over the years.

Whatever system is brought in, people will still complain; I think the current system is ok - there’s a lot of natural wastage and currently some away matches go through to new season ticket holders / members. Look at Huddersfield away, spaces around us that night - why?

Anyway, I expect the system to change to disadvantage us oldies as we don’t tend to moan and go and social media to force our point of view through. People go on about the system being fair, but only if it’s their definition of fair and suits their purpose - We’ll see what happens.

I understand what you're saying, but that's not really the main complaint where most people think the system is unfair.

The biggest problem is it totally skews our away support to home season ticket holders, who have had one for at least 10 years.   It's not about "oldies".     If you're 30 years old and have had a season ticket since you were 18, then you're in that bracket.

Anyone new fans in the last 10 years will hardly get a look-in (unless, of course, it's the odd long-distance night match away to Huddersfield, Hull, or wherever).   That's the issue.

Interesting perception some people hold regarding a potential change to the Away priority points system…

I was at Swansea yesterday behind two men who must have been well into their seventies.

And I quote, “they’re trying to get rid of us old ones!”

And yet I see these two men at every away game. Consequently, if the final decision is to scrap the 50 points per season for holding a Home ST and to introduce a 3 or 4 year rolling attendance at away games, then these two men will be in the top priority as they attend every away game.

And they should remain in the top priority, if they continue to attend away games, as they are committed, loyal and dedicated fans who attend away games, and will continue to go to away games, not because they have had a Home ST for decades but that they attend away games.

‘Attend’ is the key word. That means going to the game and not just buying a ticket only to sell it!

NB – I am a ST holder who ‘voted’ to scrap the 50 points per season for holding a Home ST.
