Some people forget that because of the way he left the club. 3 play off finals, and a place in the Premiership with a very average squad. Not saying we should go and re-appoint him, just don't think it's as ludicrous as people make out.

Hoof Fox Posted 26 September 2004 Posted 26 September 2004 I think we have to be very careful when it comes to appointing a new manager especially one who has made a name for themselves in the lower leagues. My worry is that for every MON there is 10 Peter Taylors, managers who look the part but then when given the opportunity at bigger clubs are massively out of their depth. This appointment has to be right, we cannot afford to make a mistake, IMO appointing an experienced manager this time with an up and coming assitant would be the right way to go. Although I was against Bassett being appointed it did seem to help Adams get used to the surroundings and being with premiership players and seemed to give him a good grounding. Possible experienced Managers could be : Bryan Robson Gordan Strachan Steve Coppell - Done a great job at Reading Mark McGhee - Sorry to say it but has done a decent job at both Millwall and Brighton and does play football. Would IMO jump at the chance to come back and right a few wrongs. George Burley - I know he is manager of the sheep but did a great job at Ipswich and knows this division inside out. Possible Assistants : Mike Newell - Would give him time to learn the trade at higher levels. Steve Walsh - Leicester through and through Steve Claridge - Same as Walsh and allow him to learn the ropes. Nigel Clough - Will be an excellent manager in the future. Paul Ince - Seen it, done it got the T-shirt and the guvnor would sort this shower out.

All he has to do is wait a few more months and by the looks of things he'll be a championship manager next season any way I'd say: Bryan Robson and Steve Walsh

Whether they would bring along any loyalty however is another matter. My choices for manager; 1) Mickey Adams 2) Gordon Strachan 3) Gerard Houllier (Because he's french and if we play crap i've got a reason to hate him)
