Just listening to the Big Strong Leicester Boys podcast and @Ric Flair talking about the academy.

We need to address something which I don’t think has been discussed.

I think the one thing that keeps me interested in this football right now, if the pipeline of the academy.

The current squad has so, so many high earners that aren’t worth what we are paying them, that I do believe with the likes of Winks, Soumare, Daka, Ricardo, Ayew etc all set to leave due to contracts expiring in the summer of 2026, I just can’t see us spending big money to replace them.

So, that leads me to the point in question, this should then leave a pathway for the likes of Evans, Alves, Monga, Cartwright, Alonko, Nelson, Golding etc to step into the team.

I could see that tide even changing when reality sets in that we stand no chance of getting promoted this season.

I think January will be the turning point hopefully a few of those will move on and as you say we'll know by then where we stand with the points deduction. Frankly if they don't start to blood some of the Academy from January onwards it'll be too late they need experience this season to enable them to make an impact next season whatever league we end up in.

It’s like extending a house you plan on leaving in year anyway with how we play shit, ageing dossers who have a year or two left.

If it becomes very apparent we’re not going up (a few weeks imo) we have to start playing these players - otherwise we’re doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over again.

We’ve raised about £140m from academy grads - the proof of concept is there.

If Evans and Nelson leave and flourish elsewhere we‘ll deserve it at this trajectory.

I think it has to be the case of the board telling Marti that it's promotion or bust for him this season hence why's he's so set on the so-called 'experienced' players.

We do have an amazing crop of youngsters coming through the academy and failing to go up this year might be the best possible scenario for them.

Marti just isn't willing to take the gamble at this moment in time which is a shame but I do think there is a lot pressure/influence from above.

Even if they do decide to leave it's better for the club if they've played a few games as surely that will increase their value they're worth next to nothing as just ex academy players.

At some point it will be make or break though.

We have to blood some of them and give them 20 minutes here and there. I don’t think they are physically ready, as we’ve seen with the likes of Page and Roma degree Monga, to start game and compete. It’s different playing against players who are tired though, they’ve lost that extra 1 - 2% every and physicality, so they can be tested.

Nelson though, my opinion has changed and needed playing weeks ago.
