Seems like the kind of player who needs a strong team around him, leaders etc. He’s never one to stand out but perhaps ‘solid’ enough in the right team. We had a team where too many were just not trying and anonymous. So even though Skipp’s effort levels were higher than most, he’s never going to be the type to drag the team up.

Doesn’t mean he can’t play at a good level in the Championship.

I want him to go, don’t get me wrong. I just think it’s a bit less black and white when players are written off purely based on being part of a relegation.

Or maybe I’m still being overly generous there and he is that bad. I think it’ll be interesting to see how some of those who leave us get on at their next clubs. I don’t underestimate the effect of an awful culture within the club on certain players and some might go on to do quite well at another club.

Personally i just think Skipp is very bad. There were too many times last season where he would just miss-time a tackle and get spun around or where he would go missing in possession hiding behind opposition players.

In general he just seemed too slow mentally and physically to keep up with the midfield battle at championship level. There were a few moments where he would drop back and do well in helping out the defence by filling in at full back or centre back but in the middle of the pitch he was generally useless. Dont get me started on when he tried to join in with the attackers either, like a fish out of water.

If he switches to playing right back he can probably have a second wind as footballer but as a midfielder i think he's going struggle for the rest of his career.

“Some good moments” he was here 5 years.
Give Skipp another 3 and maybe we can hope for the same.

As for costing less, a rumoured £20m in wages, and one good night of finishing in Europe, against a Spartak defence that shipped 11 goals that week.

Both hideous, but I think Daka takes some beating given the duration he was here, and spending nearly half his time in the division below he was signed for as one of “Europe’s top talents” and still looking out of his depth.

Let’s not forget ONE league goal in 57 appearances across 3 seasons from the back end of Enzos period to scoring against Stoke last season.

Unless we somehow sell Skipp which I really cannot see happening for the value we would need I expect he will be another who sits here until his contract ends - maybe a loan where we still probably a good chunk of his wages if we are lucky

Skipp was meant to be signed as a highly rated young English midfielder with a good amount of Prem experience and I would be seriously surprised if he even stood out for us in league one

Based on the 2 years so far from Skipp I doubt we will ever see even a single proper stand out performance from him - by the time Skipp leaves we will have spent 4 of the 5 years of his contract outside the Prem

Signed for a team tipped for relegation, as opposed to a team challenging for the champions league.

Logic would suggest it’s easier to have some “stand out moments” in a more successful side, because Daka sure didn’t have any in the last 2 seasons like Skipp.

By the time he leaves? Which could be in the next month that’s one season outside the prem no?

The “big signing” of the summer for a promoted side expect to be a key player for you as opposed to a young player coming in to be a 3rd choice striker?

So he would have spent half his time here outside the top division as well then if he leaves?

We at least got a bit of something out of Daka no matter how small it was, we have got exactly fvck all out of Skipp and there is absolutely no evidence from the last 2 seasons to suggest we will even if he stays here for another 3 years

Surely the evidence from last season would suggest that Skipp is not championship level.

I think in general his performances were around mid-table Championship level, yes.
